Now that is something I have NEVER seen...snow on Kyle Field!

Late Jan, early Feb of 1989 we had a massive ice storm that shut the place down. There was ice an inch think on the Kyle Field ramps so we found garbage can lids, laundry baskets, boxez, whatever, and used the ramps as sledding slopes. Fun stuff.

We had a freak storm in February of '72 and had almost a foot of snow. Thoroughly enjoyed by all especially when class was canceled after no one showed.....

After spending almost 3 years in Indiana...I'm not a big fan of snow either. Snow is ok when you live somewhere that shuts everything down just because you had a little snow dusting.

When you live somewhere that keeps business as usual even with a foot of snow on the ground, it just becomes an annoyance. Also, the snow doesn't melt away here....it stays...and stays...and gets dirty and brown. It's not nice for long.

How can you hate snow?
Yes the Ice Storm of 1989 was the worst winter conditions I have ever seen for College Station..nothing was open for 3 days. There was another in 1996 that was pretty bad as well but only lasted for a day.
There was also a pretty decent snow storm that hit in the mid 80's..dont remember the exact year.

Looks like Sherm is going to make us more like a pro team:

That was my sophmore year and it happened over the break. Not a lot of people in town but it was a lot of fun. Offices were closed for two days and snow was everywhere. Of course, that was before we had cameras so there are no pictures.

My wife (girlfriend at the time) & I enjoyed that '89 ice storm! Aside from that, don't think I've ever seen winter precipitation in B/CS. Hope those that are there get out & enjoy it.

That ice storm kept me from marching in the King Rex parade at Mardi Gras.

I remember a big pool of blood on the quad where someone slipped and took a header.

A&M had snow ice days in Jan. '97... quite of bit more snow then the pic above. Shut the place down for over 2 days.

Wasn't there an ice storm in Spring 2007, right about the time classes were supposed to start back up?

And we got old home movies for Christmas last year that had a big snowstorm in CS back in the 60's when my father in law was a student. There were lots of well endowed snow women built on campus.

I now have a new background on the computer at work.
