Rose for me. I thought about getting antique, but the antiquing wears off anyway, so I got the Rose.

Rose finish! Still think it's the best looking finish. I'll never forget the day I got my ring.
Bought it with my tax return money, I think it was $375 bucks.
Hey Kubiak, are you Gary Kubiak?

As all of you know everything on the ring is symbolic for something.
How many of you know what the little holes at the bottom of your ring stand for?????????????

Those little holes on the bottom of our rings..hmm...I've heard a couple of stories. One is that they are Elephant tracks and the other is that...well...I don't think its appropriate ;o)

jdwAg20/91,

I thought your true Aggieness was determined by that little thing by your name

Actually, everyone should be FORCED to get the antique finish. It takes years and years of being an Aggie before you can wear off the antique and have the natural look.

So if you don't get the antique look, I won't say you are less Aggie, rather you are trying to look more Aggie than you really are

Oh and one more thing. Real Aggies are ENGINEERING majors

antique. Looks more old army and the contrast shows the ring off better. That and my grandfather's first and second ring were both antique. He was class of 27.

"bling-bling"- that's funny.

antique. 10k.

Saved my coins in a coffee can for three years and ended up only being 50 bucks short of the ring cost. Pulled a couple of extra shifts and had enough moolah in time to order.

Back in '55, it was the biggest and blackest.
I suppose that is what you young whipper snappers are calling "antique". That is what both my son and grandson got. I know, because I paid for both of them and a hell of a lot more than mine cost!!

I don't recall having a choice, but I would have gone w/ antique regardless.
BTW...what does a ring cost today? In '74 it cost around $60.

Antique all the way. Sounds like antique is making a comeback. When I got my ring, ('90) just about the only people getting antique were in the corps but it sounds like a lot of people have gone back to the antique. IMO It is definitely the more classic old army ring.

I don't know about today's cost of an Aggie Ring. I've heard it is in the neighborhood of $375?? When I got mine (10K Rose Finish) about six years ago it was about $310.

Natural. The petina comes with age. I personally don't much like the diamonds because it changes the overall shape and composition of the ring. But, it doesn't make it any less kick-as*.

It comes in finishes?
WOW!
What will they think of next?
I think I ordered mine in the only finish available back then. I still remember though that the price had gone up that semester and if I had not played around with some failing grades early on in my time at A&M I would have paid the previous going rate of $34.00.
But mine costs $37.10.
When I needed it redone because my fingers had gotten bigger about 20 years later, it costs me double to have it resized -- But -- WORTH EVERY PENNY OF THE COSTS.

I interned in North Carolina this past semester and I must say that rings from The Citadel (Charleston, S.C.) look pretty similar to the Aggie ring. I consistently had people come up to them and introduce themselves as fellow Citadel grads.

Get the Rose and antique it yourself. The best looking ring I have ever saw( Excluding when I opened the box and saw my own for the first time) was owned by the C.O. of my outfit when I was a fish in the Corps. He did his own.... Took alot of time, but it sure was purty.

Last Fall I finally got my Aggie Ring, 25 years after I first enrolled at A&M. I chose rose finish (even though my I had always admired my brother’s Class of 69 Ring, which was started out with an antique finish).

I originally planned to wear my West Point ring and Aggie ring on alternating days but it hasn't worked out that way. I have worn my Aggie Ring on all but about 4 days since I got it.

I am very proud to have graduated from West Point - so much so that I am now a tenured faculty member here. But I have to acknowledge that there is something very special and unique about an Aggie ring. Even though the tradition of school rings was first started at West Point (even before A&M existed), the tradition is stronger and more valued at A&M than it is anywhere else, including West Point.

My heart is black, gray and gold, but I will always bleed maroon.

p.s. A hallowed tradition at West Point, the 12th Man, complete with cadets standing through out each football game, was apparently first seen at West Point in the late ’40. Most West Point graduates are blissfully unaware of the true origins of the 12th Man tradition.
