Heldenfelss might be the ugliest( inside and out) Building in the United States of America.


this stuff happens when you convert yourself form a small Military college to a Flagship Universty in a little over a decade.

Gotta agree. We could use some more green. Walk around ucla sometime and then compare our campus.....

The photo they have for a building supposedly at Northeastern University isn't a Northeastern University building, and nothing in the description makes any sense. I think this entire blog entry was made in about an hour over a doobie.

Or Michigan or Rice or even the sips campus.

dumb article. I don't agree.

If you take a walk from the front of campus/ Admin. building through the Library corridor, to the Academic Bldg plaza, to Rudder, to Kyle (i.e. the heart of campus) it's a scenic campus. It's the fringe areas/west side that ar not appealing.

Most campuses are pretty utilitarian. The surrounding landscape has a lot to do with the perceived beauty of the campus. The Brazos Valley isn't exactly Boulder, CO. That said... One of my votes for ugliest campuses I have visted has to go to Harvard. That place looked totally run down to me.

Our buildings leave little to be desired but as another poster noted; what do you expect when you start out as a military school. I don't think they were to concerned if all the buildings had a similar pretty look or all had spanish tile. They were more concerned with developing and educating young men to defend our country.

One thing that is nice about A&M is the Oak trees.

I've yet to hear a better description.

What happened is that we converted ourselves from a small, all male military academy to a first-rate public research university during a period when architecture was at its lowest ebb. Find most any public building or low-level office structure built during this period - they're ugly and look just like A&M's campus.

I haven't heard of like half those other places.

ha ha, I remember Gates saying he wanted to demo the "neo-totalitarian" atmospheric sciences building (tall, ugly building next to administration building)

We should feel honored to be mentioned in the same list as Southern Connecticut State.

The few good snapshots we have, are of landscapes, i.e. the Administration building on Eastgate. That's nice, but other than that, the Bush Library is a nice scene, and the business school looks somewhat modern, except it could USE SOME GREEN ANYWHERE!

What's sad is we used to have some very beautiful buildings on campus and most were torn down and replaced with the big, square, factory-like monstrosities we see today. Think about it. our best looking buildings are the older ones......Academic, Administration and Sbisa. The building they tore down to put up Rudder Tower looked like an ancient Greek temple. With the old live oaks we have on campus we could have one of the best looking campuses around if any thought was put into the architecture before the buildings were OK'd.

If it makes you feel any better. I think the corps uniforms might be uglier than campus.

I'm sorry but I have been to many college campuses and Texas A&M, while no the most beautiful, should not be in the bottom 20. How is Tech and UH not on this list?

Our campus is really ugly and when you throw in all the construction it makes it even worse.

Who gives a ****. It's what is on the inside that counts. NO other school has the Spirit nor the Camraderie that A&M does! I have traveled many miles and never do I see another person whip it out and introduce themselves when they see another person's class ring. THAT is just one of many things that make us great.
