We WOULD find a way to play 12 games and end up with a record of 10-1

Is Utah State for sure?

Short week leading up to tu. I guess it evens out since they will have a short week too.

Utah State is listed just like the rest for 2009. (Last paragraph).

I'm not a fan of that schedule. It means 6 home games for the entire year (all 6 at Kyle). I was thinking when we were the away team against ARK, we'd have 7 Kyle games.

Byrne also announced some non-conference agreements for 2009 with New Mexico returning to Kyle Field (Sept. 5) and Utah State (Sept. 19) coming to Kyle Field for one game. The Aggies will travel to Shreveport, Louisiana, to continue a 2-for-1 series with Louisiana Tech facing the Bulldogs at Independence Stadium on Sept. 12, 2009.

USAFA dropped us. Several schools dropped us at the same time last year.

I don't like having the bye after 3 games and then having to play 8 straight. By the time the t.u. games comes around on that Thursday, we should be pretty beat down with that demanding schedule and having the luxury of a 4 day rest between games, but then again I guess you can count Baylor at home as a bye.

wow, only 6 home games in 2009? I'm shocked. I doubt we'll see that again for a while. Will the season ticket price go down?

I wonder if Arkansas knows we have 2 weeks off before the first game of the new series.

I'm actually interested in the Shreveport game. Good excuse to hit some casinos.

Some years we will have 6 home games, most years 7. The 6 will happen when we have the away game in a 2 for 1 deal. While this Arkie game is in effect, probably won't see many or any home and home pairings. Frankly I am fine with that. We stand more to gain out of the Arkie series.

MSU and Air Force backed out.

quote:
In my annual State of the Department presentation last weekend at the Bright Football Building with about 200 people present, I seem to have caught a few by surprise in revealing that Air Force and Michigan State have pulled out of agreements to play us. There are also emails reflecting some doubt of the veracity of those comments.

If you doubt my candor, you don't know me very well. John L. Smith, the coach at Michigan State, and I played against each other in high school football. He was a lot better than I was. We talked personally about them not wanting our game. And though I didn't speak directly to the athletic director at Air Force, senior associate AD John Thornton did, and they wanted to go another direction, too.

That one was particularly disappointing because we feel that games with the service academies are a good fit for what Texas A&M University represents. These developments are examples of a national issue and trend, brought about by changes in the BCS system whereby only wins matter and not, unlike basketball, strength of schedule.

Several of you also were curious about how easily it seemed that Michigan State and Air Force could get out of contracts, and wondered whether we might try to bind them to play us. Usually in a home-and-home arrangement there is no payout or financial penalty clause, unless it's cursory for travel expenses. If we wanted to hard-ball a school cancelling on us, it would become an expensive legal ordeal and probably wind up in court.
