Though that sideline pass behind the line of scrimmage to Goodson had me about throwing things into the TV tonight. I do NOT get that play. Throw to Goodson behind the LOS, when he's at a dead stop, and 3 defenders are there to tackle him. Idiocy.

How do you not even have Lane in the game...........at least they have to account for him even if you don't hand him the ball.....I mean fake the gd thing to him and throw it to Bennett......anything but run sideways.

When you think about it, most coaches aren't the brightest tool in the shed to begin with, so it isn't that surprising to see things like that.

Absolutely stupid play call. Followed up shortly by the punt with 2 mins left in the game. Chicken sh@t call. I can't wait til all the Fran remnants are gone from this staff (save Van Malone).

That call was absolutely ridiculous. I was in horror seeing McGee dropping back when I was hoping he would just sneak it.

Apparently the outgoing staff never believed in Lane because it's happened too many times.

Even if he wasn't available that play call was inexcusable and showed no belief that you can ride your line for a foot.

Good riddance I say.

I thought the obvious call was to run Lane up the middle or do a qb sneak but I also thought back to the Texas Nebraska Big XII game in which instead of playing it safe on fourth down in his own territory Texas QB James Brown rolled out and hit his tight end downfield and cinched the win.

I felt sick for McGee and the whole team but the call was a viable one. I was kind of surprised that PSU was ready for it.

If they had run up the gut and got stuffed, how many of the people complaining about the call would be complaining about that?

if our line was getting owned then you dont call a play that is designed to go lateral down the line where any kind of penetration will destroy the option. thats why that call will go down in history as the worst play call ever!!! lane up the middle!!! or even a mcgee sneak would have been better even if we didnt not pick up the first down!

I dont mean to be a downer - but what have you been watching or what did you expect??? Pretty much par for the course for this staff - and seemingly us in bowl games - Heres to us hopefully putting this crap behind us - BRING ON THE SHERMINATOR!!!!

I lost my voice on that play. The only other call that compares to that was in the Sugar Bowl. 4th and 6 at around the 45 with just over 4 minutes left and down by 10. RC Punted... Freaking Punted. Seriously..

lane needed to be in the there at least as a decoy, if i recall i think taylor was lined up back there, and if they weren't gonna hand it off to the train at least have alexander in there or mcgee sneak, that play was terrible.

The option would have worked if they would have used some mis direction.

The way penn st was pursuing a one step mis direction they would have all gotten whiplash.

That is why Bucky Richardson was so good at the short yardage option he would cut back against the pursuit.

didn't see the press conference or post-game, but did somebody ask them point blank about the play? if so, what was the excuse?

It provides a little bit of a clue on who provided the bonehead calls in 2006 in similar situations.

Playing calling....somehow someone needs to find a way to keep A&M off of national TV. How many times does A&M have to emabrrasses itself before someone pulls the plug.
