Was wondering if anyone happened to know of a Houston area book appraiser. Lots of late 1800-early 1900 era books to go through and see if there is anything rare or collectible.

First thing I'd do is spot-check a few random titles by looking the title, print year, or edition up online to figure out if you've got a readers library, or individual editions.

Before you go through the hassle of dealing with book dealers, you'd want to find out if they're readers' library types that aren't worth much, or individual printings/editions that might be more interesting.

*and keep in mind that dealers have to buy for much less than they sell.

They all seem to come from a library in small town Texas. There are some titles I am familiar with such as Little Women, Last of the Mohicans, Dr. Doolittle, Alice in Wonderland but there are also some poetry collections and other random titles. All are worth something but nothing that is impressively rare.

I'm not a collector or anything, but my wife loves Little Women. Do you have a list of the novels you have and about how much you would want for them?
