Lots of interesting historical video
and an only mildly stupid narrative.

He must have felt the weight world on his shoulders as the chief architect of the US macro level military operations in WWII Europe.

No doubt he was privy to much:

"When he (Pres Eisenhower) said the main thing we had to fear (farewell speech) was the military industrial complex, he wasn't kidding, and he had the (ufo) subject matter we are talking about in mind. He was quite explicit about that."

-Brigadier General Stephen Lovekin US Army Signals Staff under Ike
"Roswell, 1947, there was a uap (ufo) that crashed, in fact there were 2 uaps, 1 crashed and one flew away and the other one did not and was recovered by the US GOVERNMENT."
- Lue Elizondo-former director of the Pentagon's Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program-August 20, 2024

Are A&M's core values..optional? Who has the POWER to determine that? Are certain departments exempt? Why?

Some outstanding video - although I think their final conclusion that the CIA was a mistake fails to give credit to the persistence of the worldwide socialist movement.

Edit: Having unusual trouble with YouTube not wanting to play "Cold War - Eisenhower's Operatives"

Here's a hint. The military industrial complex is the shadow government. Hth

He would be rolling in his grave to see how we have ignored that warning.

he's was the architect of meddling in other counties business and green lighted the CIA to overthrow govts all over the planet. This gave birth to the military industrial complex. He put the Shah in charge in Iran, look how that worked out. He green lighted the Bay of Pigs just to name a few.

I think everything you posted is true - but - big but -
there was this thing called the cold war, and Ike wanted the U.S. to win.

The question is how much failure was due to CIA mistakes
how much to the innate tendency of cultures to resent being manipulated,
and how much due to the very aggressive worldwide socialist movement being effective.

That's a nice cover. But we overthrew a democratically elected govt and installed a dictator in Iran. which then gave the CIA path to do it again and again over over the place.

The youtube story even talks about how Ike covered up the CIA work. so you can't blame it all on the CIA. He was the CIA.

Sorry I just don't buy that Ike was this great sooth saying looking into the future about big bad military complex when he was neck deep in it

Oh, I agree that Ike was very much into keeping his input secret.
But how else could he do it? They weren't playing video games with points for being moral.
Was he supposed to just let the Communists take over the world's resources?

Here's a hint, if there were a vast conspiracy, it would not likely be the conspiracy that everyone believes in. The military industrial complex is not the conspiracy. If it were, then you wouldn't have a bankrupt US shipbuilding industry, Boeing nearly bankrupt, etc.

The **** that isn't getting bankrupt is the US Marxist/Woke industrial complex. That's the conspiracy. Let's go after that one for a while.

Both could be true.

Industries that are protected and subsidized by the government become corrupt and incredibly inefficient and ineffective. The bankrupt shipbuilding industry and Boeing are evidence of government subsidies and protection, not evidence against it.

Halliburton (parent of Brown and Root) didn't hire Dick Cheney as CEO because of his oil and gas or management expertise.

And that's not to take anything away from what you label as the US Marxist/Woke industrial complex. That's as bad or worse.

I've gotten cynical. My beliefs now are that politicians from both sides look at us as sheep to be fleeced. None of them believe what they say on the campaign trail. It's all about money and power and whose turn it is at the trough.

he was neck deep in it, but he was also at a pivotal point in American history where we were coming out of an isolationist attitude pre WW2 into a newly found, peak strength after WW2 where a lot of historic powers were decimated.

To be able to help the world move into a wider and more stable peace and avoid another full-scale military conflict, yet curtail the chaotic and disruptive tendencies of smaller countries that could still throw everything into chaos is an incredibly thin needle to thread.

Most every government agency had grown by leaps and bounds in size over the preceding decade, often at times with very little oversight. The number of options in Eisenhower's repertoire was extensive, and if his primary goal was to avoid full-scale conflict, I don't know many people could have done better. He was one of the few people who could stand up to the generals of the military and decide to use non-military options.

Listen to some of the X-COM tapes of the Joint Chiefs of Staff during the Cuban Missile Crisis, the disdain for Kennedy from some of his joint chiefs is insane. He was often the lone dissenting opinion for non-military options in that room.
