I'm watching a show about Pompeii right now and the ingenuity and scale of what the Romans did never ceases to amaze me.

It has me wondering though, where would civilization be if the knowledge/technology they had remained intact.

Romans were impressive no doubt. If you've never been to Rome, I highly recommend it.

You can see the Forum ruins, the Colosseum, the Pantheon and the Vatican which replaced them all as the ruling class.

Think about this, every time you click off a mile, you're continuing the use of Roman math.

But, the Romans didn't have the concept of zero. It took the Arabs for that.

It's certainly valid to compliment their civilization and engineering, but also as with the eastern Roman Empire (Constantinople) and others acknowledge the massive corruption and abuse they facilitated.

There are some famous books that are divinely inspired that touch on it.
