I am amazed at the ability to locate essentially a needle in a haystack, considering the depths and vastness of area to cover.

I've been pretty sure they found her three weeks ago, but I'm glad to see it confirmed! So all the American pre-war CVs that were sunk have been found.

Next, I hope they go up to the Philippines and find Princeton (CVL23) or Midway and find Kido Butai...

I'm guessing they have found some significant Jap vessels but are turning the info over to the Japanese government and not making it public.

They found the IJN Musashi back in 2015. They've announced the finding of other IJN ships. I think they just focus on the particular ship they are looking for, and if the find something else mark it for future dives and continue their primary search. Not usually enough time to deviate from their main goal, especially with as much fighting was around the South Pacific and the abundance of ship wrecks
