Except it probably never happened. Shakespeare was a propagandist by necessity. In order to be allowed to show his plays, he had to stick to an approved Elizabethan narrative, which meant making some people out to be heroes and others to be villains. His history isn't wrong, so much as invented in this case.
In the case of his Wars of the Roses plays, he's clearly making out the good guys and bad guys as the Elizabethans wanted them to be seen.
