I am a new AP US history teacher this year. Anyone know of good resources I should check out for essays, primary sources, etc.?

I taught AP English Language and Comp for many years, and was a consultant for College Board and ETS, teaching two-day workshops and AP Summer Institutes.

I assume you have checked the College Board AP Central site for your subject area. They have released exams and will also have other resources for you.

The most helpful thing you can do this fall is go to one of the Friday-Saturday College Board AP Workshops in your area.

There is one at the Omni in San Antonio Nov. 13-14; last date to register is Oct. 30, but these workshops fill up VERY QUICKLY. Your district/school should pay for this training. http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/InstitutesAndWorkshops/viewEvent?eventid=5550

I see there is another workshop at TCU on Oct. 10. https://lifelong.is.tcu.edu/wconnect/ShowSchedule.awp?~~GROUP~AP~Advanced+Placement

You will also want to go to one of the week-long AP Summer Institutes as soon as you can, preferably next summer. Summer Institutes fill up very quickly. Your district/school should pay for it.

I see you're in Austin. The two best APSIs in Texas are at Rice and at TCU. I cannot say often enough that these institutes in particular fill up very quickly, even though they have multiple sessions available throughout the summer. It is still just a bit early for these sites to have their registration information up, but you should read the following information on the 2015 sessions so you will get an idea how they work and so you can keep checking in to see when the registration will begin.

I've used this book in my own survey courses:

It's a nice compendium of primary sources for early America.
