I had recently done the Paluxy Pedal ride that starts in Glen Rose and winds around the country side before it finishes back in Glen Rose. I had not done the Goatneck race earlier this year.

I am asking for those who rode both races to compare the terrain of the routes. Is the Goatneck as hilly as the Paluxy ride?

My buddy said he enjoyed the goatneck more, however we only rode the "29" mile course so we could go mountain biking later in the day. As far as loot goes he said it really sucked for a pay ride. The 2nd rest stop didn't even have any water.

If I remember correctly, the second stop on the Paluxy Pedal was where the 25-mile route broke off from the 45, 60, and 80-mile routes. The sad thing is that there was another rest stop about 1.5 miles further along the longer route that was well stocked and had a port-a-pottie available.

Looks like the 80 runs almost the same route for about 50 miles of the goat neck. That little loop up to what they call the "wall" is different. Anything called "the wall" I'm assuming is tough.

I loved the goatneck. That area is really nice to ride through.

A guy fell at the split when he couldn't get unclipped. I felt for him, but simultaneously laughed on the inside. It always hurts your pride more than anything when you do stupid junk like that. I had a pretty sweet wreck at the Northshore trail in Grapevine that afternoon with a small crowd. They were impressed!

'The Wall' is somewhere between 17 and 19 percent slope for about 0.5 miles. One rider measured it on his Garmin to be 17%, but for whatever reason the 19% is also floating around. That is neither here nor there. I estimate only 1 in 5 riders, at least in my clump of riders, were able to get up the hill. The rest of us walked it, and there was a photographer at the top taking photos - which adds insult to injury for a bike ride.
