Alright, saunas are all the rage. What are the best saunas for home use? My want is to have a dedicated circuit specifically for a 2-4 person traditional sauna but open to what people have found useful.

I've had 6 . I don't think I'll ever not have one. I prefer traditional. I've done infrared , it's fine. For the one I have now it's indoors. #8 wire with a quick disconnect box. Make sure you read the manual for heater before buying and make sure you can accommodate electrical needs. I bought heater and controls and did a custom build. I had a barrell sauna style outdoors previously and really liked it. That model was from my sauna world. There are tons of sauna dealers. All of the heaters in my trad saunas were Harvia . Never had an issue.

Sold. You make it sound rather easy and low maintenance.

Trout - why have you had 6?

Because I have a couple houses and have upgraded once or twice since I figured out what I prefer.

Here is a couple different ones I had on phone. I threw in one with a lizard. I had some wasps and other things like spiders get into my barrell one and surprise me .

Any recommended manufacturers or ones to avoid? Ours would be an outdoor sauna.

Outdoor I would go barrell. Go with biggest heater for that model. The faster it heats up the more you'll use it. That is why I went traditional. Infrared was 45 min to get to temp. I can heat my trad up in 10-15 minutes. Bigger sauna is better a 2 person sauna is really a 1 person. A 6 is 4 person. Get atleast a 4 person even if it's just you. The heater and controls are most important. You can usually pick what wood type, door etc. as far as brand I can't say without homework, but I would look at where it's from what state or country shipping from sort of thing. Call them if you talk to a person who works for them vs a call center will tell you what direction to go.

Wouldn't an indoor sauna force your AC to work much harder?

Not really it's an enclosed space. I have a small vent but overall you aren't heating up a room and fighting your AC. There is no AC vent inside the sauna.

Yeah but the heat has to radiate somewhere. I guess the vent makes sense. Like a dryer.

I'm an advocate of the steam tent saunas. Any of them. It's in my garage next to my gym equipment.
