I was just told that an old friend and co-worker of mine fell off his roof yesterday and that he fractured his C1, C2, and C7 vertebrae. He was sent by life-flight to Northwest Hospital in Amarillo.

He can reportedly move his arms and legs a bit.

Any speculations on what kind of outcome he might expect in the future? Best case? Worst case?

I assume that he probably won't be able to move his head much, if any. Is that reasonable to expect?

Is there likely to be swelling in the spinal nerves that could leave him paralyzed?

Not enough info to know what he is looking at. These cases range from mild to very severe depending on the spinal cord involvement.

Thanks for the info. I'm praying for very mild.

Also, he is retired and in his mid to late 60s.
