I know there was an older thread on this, but starting a new one to see if there have been any new advancements in understanding how to get to a true root cause and not just treat the symptoms (like Dupixent).

Has anyone had any success with the food allergy blood panels? Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I don't have a direct answer to your question.

Was diagnosed with EOE at 32 after years of horrible swallowing problems.
I take my Prilosec every day and use my Pulmicort inhaler, and I have no more problems.
Last visits with my GI and my most recent scopes have all gone well.

I have not needed any of the fancy expensive biological medications.

I haven't had any tests run but I did stumble upon something. For probably the past year, 90% of my breakfasts have been a smoothie. I did orange juice, yogurt, frozen strawberries, frozen pineapple/frozen peaches, mass gain powder and honey.

About 3 weeks ago I was having the choking episodes almost daily, sometimes twice a day. At that time I changed up my breakfasts from the smoothies. I changed because I ran out of the powder, not because of the choking. About two weeks into the change, I realized that I hadn't choked once. Last week, I decided to have an orange as an afternoon snack. That night, I choked. So, since then I have not had any citrus and have not choked.

ETA: I just had chicken fried rice for dinner which ALWAYS gets stuck. I ate my entire meal without it getting stuck even a little bit.

I have had the endoscopy and used vials of Budesonide in a slurry. But understand Prilosec is the newer approach. I need to go back to see the doc to switch but a friend recently switched ti Prilosec with some success.

Mine was definitely tied to poorly treated acid reflux and GERD-related disease.
More so than food sensitivities. Other people with more food related patterns should avoid those, similar to Gluten with true Celiac disease.

I've had some good outcomes with allergy testing, specifically immunocap panels. It really depends on the specifics. Some kids are just allergic to everything and in those cases it is not helpful. If only one or two things pops on the panel then it is worth trying to avoid them and see how it changes the symptoms.
