My five year old son was recently diagnosed with Growth Hormone Deficiency. Earlier this year I was let go from my job so I went out on my own. Unfortunately because of this I do not have health insurance. My family has been doing Impact Health Sharing, but this is something they will not help us with.

We have looked into purchasing other health insurance plans but they are very expensive. We looked into Texas Farm Bureau but we cannot get a clear understanding of whether or not they cover this type of treatment.

Does anyone have any ideas or advice on what the best course of action would be?

Honestly, did you get a second opinion? Our son was incorrectly diagnosed with this by a "reputable" endo in Dallas 23 years ago who is still practicing.

We are on the waiting list at children's but it is very long. From what the doctor said, every test result came back low. He is smaller than all of his friends and his mom and I are not short.

Well, hope Obamacare precondition requirements don't get cancelled till you can get on insurance again.

But I bet you can probably get hgh from a Canadian pharmacy a lot cheaper than in the US, if that's what you end up needing.

My folks were average height but I was very small even through high school. My friends used to tell me we I was the reason we were a 1A school instead of 2A, lol. I didn't get over 5' until late in my sophomore year, and was about 5'6" at graduation, but grew to 5'10" when all was said and done. The good Lord has a plan, let Him work it, and leave the doctors opinions out of it.

Disagree with that. If growth hormone is truly low, it needs to be provided and not just for height. It's very expensive. 20 years ago we were looking at $1,000 per month. There are several manufacturers, and they all have programs to provide it free or at a discount if needed.

By the way, the endo who misdiagnosed our son is not at Children's, but the one who got it right was.

Is finding another job that offers solid health insurance an option?

Late bloomer is not the same as proven growth hormone deficiency.

That is like praying your type 1 diabetic son just does ok with diet and not giving him the insulin he cannot make.

As far as OP I would get in touch with pharma via call or email. They have tons of cost support programs.
