Been mountain biking, mostly Central Texas single track, for almost three decades. I'm 61 years old and trying to hang on to fitness. The chain stay on my 1999 Sugar 2 cracked so I'm unexpectedly in the market for a new bike. The Trek Top Fuel is very similar to my old bike and maybe my choice. However I recently rented a Trek Fuel EXe. It has an amazingly compact TQ motor that provides "power assist". Enables me to climb stuff I could never climb before. It's a hefty 42 pounds but still rides like a mountain bike. It'll also add about $2500 to my bike expense, but might allow me to ride fun stuff for the remainder of my active life. Would appreciate feedback from anyone who rides a modern mtb e-bike.
