How long do you want to ignore this user?
A good friend of mine has fallen off the wagon and isn't responding well to my advice. I've been where he is and am now 4 yrs clean and sober. His wife asked if I knew of a therapist to help him. My therapist has moved away and I don't know of any I can recommend. It's never a good time to be an alcoholic, but his mother in law is dying of cancer and he's not there when his wife needs him the most. Any recommendations on a San Antonio therapist?

Post on the Alcoholics Anonymous thread, believe AggieJim and a few others live down there and should have some resources they can reach out to

Starlight in Kerrville or Laural Ridge here in SA are places to consider.

Not a specific therapist recommendation but I'm familiar with this company. Good people.

Also for your friend's wife: one of my best friends is an addict who's been sober for 11 or 12 years now. He and his wife have a community for spouses of alcoholics and addicts. In their journey they found there isn't a lot of support for spouses, partners, and caretakers even though they're the ones who are holding everything together for their families.

TWFO: Our mission to is to validate, empower, educate, and help spouses of alcoholics and addicts on their journey.

I'll be in town for Army drill this weekend. I'd be happy to talk to him one of those evenings to provide an empathetic ear. As someone who has walked a mile in those shoes. Perhaps help him through the ambivalence he is going through and guiding him towards getting help.

All great suggestions for counselors/rehabs in this thread. I plan on going to a couple AA meetings and coffee this weekend in SA and would happy to meet yall/him at a meeting or a coffee shop.

Just let me know. AggieJim has been supportive of me and I would like to pay it forward.

Of course. I, like you, know just how great life can be without alcohol.
