Ragoo was fast on the swim this morning!

Looks to be killing it on the bike.

Any other texagers racing this morning?

Great weather for it. Although it's about to get hot.

Better finish before it does

5:50:22 - an hour faster than 2021

Crashed my bike with half a mile left. Cop was letting traffic go, got a little confused on turning or going straight and hit a traffic cone. Cut my finger pretty good getting my chain back on and knee got pretty sore at mile 10 of the run.

Bike course was better than previous but 77 south still had about 20 miles of chip seal which hurts and greatly increases rolling friction. A lot of people had mechanicals.

It was freaking HOT on the run. Lots of open exposed pavement especially the last 5 miles down around the stadium.

Nice work. Hope the bike is ok. That's what truly matters.

I had a friend doing her first 70.3. Missed the final cutoff by 8 minutes.

It was brutally hot this afternoon for October.

It was F-Hot. I chose to swim in lava shorts so I didn't enter the water until 8:30 which put me on the bike about 9:20. I didn't really think about the implications of starting that far back - spending the whole bike passing people, being constantly blocked, and then just witnessing all the carnage along the road side.
I did all I could on the bike set myself up for a good run and still feel short. I ran much slower than normal, walked the aid stations and drank everything I could to keep my levels up.
Finished in 6:02:57, not my slowest half but not what I was hoping.

I really feel for the first timers and out-of-towners. I live in Waco and get to train on the course so there's no surprises come race day (other than weather). I also recognize that there is plenty of room for improvement and as much as I know the RD pours herself into this race, Ironman really needs to do more in holding host cities/counties accountable for providing a race worth the exorbitant cost.
