So I am 9 days post cataract surgery and had a follow up visit this past Thursday and all looked good.

Distance vision is better but the last two days (since follow up Thursday) I would say I am getting some 'cloudiness' in my vision.

Is that to be expected?

Not exactly sure what you mean by cloudiness, but I suspect probably not. If you've been using all your drops as prescribed, and have no pain, I think you should be good to call the clinic tomorrow. If they have a weekend/after hours call line, give that a call today.

I think after looking at some You Tube videos it could be some swelling. They said Thursday that I had some swelling but to be expected.

Vision just is not as 'focused'. I can explain it like a fog or a humidity cloudiness...slightly. Just not as clear and focused.

Really just want to know how come I was seeing pretty 'focused' until after the check up on Thursday. Surgery was Friday.

No pain, not much itching. Taking all my eye drops...check up was good.

Yeah, definitely give them a call tomorrow and let us know what they say. I'm curious as well. Wonder if it has something to do with the pressure in your eye. I know that can sometimes be an issue post surgery.

Lens dislocation would be rare/odd if no trauma, and this far out.

Pressure readings were good on Thursday.

Yes, so they said it's normal for the vision post cataract to be really improved post surgery and then fluctuating in coming weeks die to swelling . Keep up with eye drops .

Not normal is quick changes in vision, pain that needs more attention than tylenol etc.

So think I am good. I can still see better, but also need a cataract in my other eye which is 6 months out from a scleral buckle repair on a torn retina….so I am overall blurry.

Increased dry eye is also very common after any eye surgery. It wouldn't hurt to mix in a systane, refresh, or blink lubricant drop a few times a day in addition to your normal postoperative drops to see if it helps.

Other possibilities would be:
1. Cystoid macular edema
2. Posterior capsular opacification

Both which would be treatable with drops or laser

As agdoc said it might be some opacification

Possible quick treatment with a YAG laser would clear that up

Are you in texas?

Posterior capsular opacification isn't typically going to appear and become visually significant in a few days time. Most likely it's just normal fluctuation during the early healing process and possibly the medication drops causing corneal irritation. Make sure you use plenty of preservative free lubricant drops along with the medicine drops and make your normal follow ups. Just space the drops out 5-10 minutes apart. Sometimes they'll have to taper you off the steroid early if it's causing too much surface irritation. Doesn't sound like anything serious as long as you are following the post op instructions.

So I can do a fresh tears type of drop as well as the 2 prescriptions drops?

That's normally part of the standard post op instruction protocol. Call them and see what they recommend but any preservative free lubricant drop should be fine as long as you space the drops out. (Refresh, Systane, IVIZIA)
