I listened to Huberman talk about the benefits of nicotine as a mental stimulant. I'm definitely intrigued but the nicotine sources I've tried have left me dissatisfied. Both the gum and the lozenges have tasted horrible. Wondering if anyone else is trying and if there's a better source, maybe patches or something. TIA!

Try zyn pouches. Just realize it's addictive and if you start it's difficult to quit.

100% do not do this. whatever brain boost you get is not worth the addiction.

I really appreciate the cautions re: addiction, and I do take that seriously. Intended to be occasional use but I'm sure that's what every addict says.

Let's not forget that nicotine is associated with atherosclerosis, vascular disease, high blood pressure, and such.

I've heard that nicotine can give such a boost, but I'd never use it. It's very addictive.

I'd recommend a brand of pouches like others have. Obviously start with the lowest mg content. 3 mg Zyns are popular, relatively low dosed, and are considered "smooth". If you aren't used to nicotine the affects of it will likely be too much to leave in for a long time.

I use them when drinking, as I find it enhances the drunk feel which allows me to not have to drink nearly as much, and if I need energy at a point in the day that it is too late to have caffeine, as nicotine has a shorter half-life. I use them at work sometimes and don't really see any cognitive benefit aside from a calming affect.

Yes it's addictive. No, using it a few times a week sparingly will not get you addicted.

Nicotine has numerous negative impacts on our bodies. I would concentrate on that.

I chew the Lucy brand gum every now and then. Being addictive is an individual thing as I can chew of and on and have so for a year. I've chewed 2 weeks straight to then taking a month off.

In terms of the side effects, have any studies just looked at nicotine and not associated with smoking or tobacco use? Guy at work tried telling me the same but the studies he sent had smokers.
