Rather than update on that thread, I wanted to create a new one.
What I would have said in Part II if I'd ever gotten back to it is that I now consider the GAPS diet to be the ideal gut healing protocol. Check it out at www.gapsdiet.com
Start reading the books and watching videos on YouTube on the subject of GAPS. It works for me and would probably work for most people if they tried it.
Now, on to something I've done lately that seemed to help IMMENSELY!
I had two more flares come on. One started Christmas Eve 2022. Most inconvenient. I admit to cheating BIG TIME on my food intake, settling for garbage meals all too often. For me, it seems like 30% garbage food and 70% super healthy food will NOT keep me in remission. So, following the GAPS Intro protocol, it took 3 months for me to heal and get back to normal. Living in moderate flare for 3 months is no fun. My most recent flare started in early June 2023. I knew that I'd be able to beat it if I ate carefully for a few months, but living those few months in moderate flare was going to be kinda terrible just like it always is. I researched anew, looking for a quicker way to deal with my issue.
I found something called Evinature at the end of June. The basic idea is that taking a lot of curcumin (turmeric) and Qing Dai will help your gut to heal. Correlation is not the same as causation, so I can't say that Evinature brought me back to remission in a hurry. But within 4 days of starting their protocol, I was back in remission. That means that I spent only a few weeks in the most recent moderate flare, and I was prepared to spend a few months as has been my history. Overjoyed. OVERJOYED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We all know that plants can be powerful medicine. I offer this testimony that maybe curcumin and/or Qing Dai will work effectively and efficiently for you and your loved ones suffering from Chrohn's/Colitis. They also talk about stress management on their website, and I think the gut has a lot to do with stress and vice versa.
Check out the website and take their assessment at www.evinature.com
When you take the assessment, they will recommend a certain protocol if your symptoms match up with what they offer. Basically, it will probably be suggested that you take 4 pills per day which contain curcumin and Qing Dai, which they label as CurQD.
My timeline, roughly:
Dec 24th 2022 - Moderate flare begins
March 25th 2023 - After 3 months of eating mainly GAPS intro, flare subsides and remission is achieved
June 5th 2023 - Moderate flare begins again
June 26th 2023 - Begin taking CurQD from Evinature
June 30th 2023 - Flare subsides, remission achieved. I've never achieved remission so fast.
September 10th - still in remission and loving life. I am now taking remission/maintenance level CurQD which you can tailor yourself if you want to. That's what I'm doing. I don't take it everyday, but I am several times a week. I'm also focusing on staying closer to GAPS protocol, consuming a fair amount of homemade chicken bone stock and sauerkraut.
Godspeed your healing!
