I currently track my sleep on a Garmin Instinct. Sleep tracking isn't the primary strength of this particular Garmin (got it for hiking) but is all I have. So I'm looking for something more accurate and that is focused on sleep.

I'm considering the Oura ring and the ring from a new company, Ringconn.

Any experience with either would be greatly appreciated. Particularly your thoughts around the accuracy of the ring.

Oura worked ok while it worked but broke within a few months. They sent a replacement but I wasn't that impressed enough to pay a stupid monthly fee so switched to Garmin watch for exercise and sleep tracking which is much better. I'm using a forerunner 255 now and love all the data I get from it.

Yes, I like the Garmin as well, though the one I have isn't great for tracking sleep. I question the accuracy of this model for sleep. If you want to know how far you hiked or what your altitude gain was, its great!

At my age, 70, good sleep is more critical to my future health than when I was younger, but at the same time it is harder to attain. Hoping to use reasonably accurate sleep data to adjust/modify my sleep routine, including use of delta 8 or possible supplements, besides healthy sleep routines I've already adopted.

I have the Oura 2. Got it for free as part of a sleep study.

I like how well it tracks my sleep. I thought I was a good sleeper until I got it. Now I'm on track for dementia. I haven't tried supplements yet, but visibly seeing how different things affects my sleep as helped me. Battery is great, only charge once a week.

It will track other activity for overall readiness. It'll detect when you workout plus you can manually input activity. But the 2 can't tell you what your heart rate and stuff is instantaneously. I believe the 3 can. But I do like seeing what my heart rate is throughout the night to see my recovery.

You understand the relationship between good sleep and cognitive diseases. I'm just learning about and am on a quest to improve sleep (prostate cancer and getting up to pee doesn't help). Will try the Oura 3 along with continued experimenting with delta-8 at bedtime along with good sleep habits. Read the book Outlive by Dr Peter Attia and it will get your attention regarding all disease that affect the aging (which is all of us).

I've heard any wearable could be sketch for accurate sleep tracking. I use a fenix 6, and by tracking, more than anything it keeps me focused on maintaining a consistent schedule to get 7-9 hours. But I will say, every time I have a little alcohol, sure enough my REM sleep is little to none like the research suggests.
