I do PT exercises 3 days/week on my own after being taught the movements by a PT and they do help.

The underlying joint condition creating the pain is that I have synovial osteochondromatosis that impacts most of my major joints, particularly my shoulders, knees, and hips. I've already had surgeries to remove loose bodies in both shoulders. My surgeon showed me some videos he took while in there and my joint socket basically looked like a snow globe. There isn't a known cause or cure, but weight loss can reduce joint stress and therefore reduce pain.

I figured I would provide a 6-month update on my progress. On March 20th, at 270lbs, I started Zepbound and a completely new diet. In mid-May I was at 245. Today, I weighed in at 217, so a total of 53lbs down in 6 months!

I started at 2.5 mg and gradually increased to the 10mg dose. I'll likely talk to my doctor soon about starting to reduce it. I'm a little nervous about what will happen once I reduce/remove the medication but also feel like I've developed completely new habits when it comes to food, so I'm cautiously optimistic. I've also been focused on exercise and resistance training so I wouldn't lose much muscle. A recent InBody scan showed that about 96% of the weight lost was fat so I'm really happy about that.

I have about 20lbs more to reach my goal, but I feel better than I have in years, probably decades.

What does your diet look like?

I did Zepbound for 4 months (one at 2.5, two a 5, one a 7.5) and lost zero lbs. I have a solid 40 to lose. Only benefit I saw was cholesterol numbers improved. Really frustrating. But glad you had a different experience.

I have lost a ton of weight with the help of zepbound 2.5 but the shot alone doesn't do much for me. It makes me 5% less hungry and makes it easier for me to say no to sugary snacks., which is probably the biggest benefit. The key is setting yourself up for lifestyle changes and sticking to them which is independent of the shot. I went on a high protein whole foods diet. I only got protein from meat and dairy for the most part.. no protein bars, protein shakes, protein pop tarts or protein doritos. I did a minimum of 10 minutes of exercise every day without exception. Most days I work out for an hour and maybe even longer but on my worst day I throw some dumbbells around for 10 minutes or walk fast uphill on my treadmill for 10 minutes so I can say I did something.

I naturally eat less calories when I stick to whole foods and I get full faster and stay full longer with higher protein meals. I also eat two meals a day with no snacks 90% of the time. I still have those fat guy demons in me and mess up on my diet sometimes and when I get away from whole foods and high protein I easily eat 500 to 1,000 more calories in a day.

I hate doing it, but tracking my food really does help. My diet focuses on high protein (more than 120g per day) and low carbs (less than 100g per day). I don't pay any attention to calories. I also eat mostly whole foods, but I do eat an occasional protein bar as an afternoon snack. With those, I make sure that protein is higher than the carbs, which, surprisingly, makes the selection pretty limited. Most Barebells bars meet that and so do the David bars.
