Have any of you run Leadville? Anyone enter the lottery or running next year?

I had registered for the lottery 4 times previously and not gotten in. This year I entered using my Lifetime Gym number thinking it was for the lottery. Well holy **** it just registered me haha!

So i am running Leadville. It has been a dream of mine for some time. Trying to figure out how i can train for altitude while living in College Station. Did Ironman Waco so not starting from scratch but will be different than my ironman training. I am sure my coach will have the recipe dialed up.

Any tips, tricks or pointers will be greatly appreciated!

2023 will be a fun one with racing!

January: Bandera 50k (maybe)

March: Ultraman Arizona

August : Leadville 100

i entered the lottery for both the run and the mountain bike, but not holding my breath on either. Unfortunately, not a lifetime member, so just gotta take my chances.

Used to live there and cheer folks on. I lived around mile 24 and people were in pretty good spirits when they left. Zombies when they came back. Best of luck, it was pretty awesome watching folks run/bike up that final hill into town. Somehow I made it inside the gates next to the podum for a bike race and got to celebrate with the folks, which was a cool experience.

Good luck! I'd try and make it up to the mountains for some running. I did the PP double while living in Dallas but the LT100 is a different beast. I'm hoping to do the Leadville Marathon this upcoming year.

My mom has a place in Breckenridge. Hopefully I can spend a few weeks up there adjusting.

Jealousy-induced rage post incoming...

Bucket list item for me but I am in the same predicament - hard to get mileage and elevation when you reside in College Station, Texas.

Collegiate Peaks corridor is one of my favorite places on the planet. Obviously lots of natural beauty, recreational opportunities, history/archaeology, etc but a healthy dose of nostalgia for me as well.

Please keep us posted with your training. Good luck!

First of all, congrats! That's awesome. I'm registered for the lottery, but I didn't think the lottery was going to be drawn until January 9th. https://www.leadvilleraceseries.com/run-lottery/

Did you get a priority entry or something with your Lifetime membership?

Yes. I entered my lifetime number and got automatic entry.

I have applied for 4 years and this is the first time I have noticed that option.

I ran the Leadville Heave Half once on a last minute whim (like the week before). It sucked. Good luck

Congrats. I lived in CO for a while in 2020 & 21. Took me a while to get used to it, plus the air quality was really bad because of all of the fires.

Good luck.

I wish. Probably can't get out there until the spring. Enjoy it. If you need any reccos I can definitely provide them

We'll be in Breck starting this Thursday and leaving on the 3rd. One of the days we plan to use to just spend the day around the town and enjoy it. Any recs?

Also, I was thinking of taking my running gear to get some miles in the morning before we hit the mountain but I'm not sure yet, may just enjoy the vacation and use the skiing as exercise. Goodluck with your training!

I may be down for a run Friday morning. The bike trail from town towards frisco is probably the best bet.

The river trail is nice for a run. It runs from downtown Breck to Vail along the Blue river. Not sure if it is maintained right now. Might need crampons. I spend a lot of time in the trails on Tiger Road, but probably iced over this time of year.

On the weekends and busy time, I recommend skiing Keystone. Breck can be insanely crowded on the weekends. I ski Breck during the week.

Sauce on the Blue is a good place for Italian and happy hour in Silverthorne. They have a pretty extensive bar

Hearthstone for Steak

Fine dining: Ski Tip in Keystone.

Butterhorn in Frisco for breakfast.

Erics is a good place to watch games and take the kids.

Cookies at Clints.

Happy Hour and Queso at Mi Casa

Blue Fish has a great lunch special for Sushi Can't remember but I think on Tuesdays

Breck is expecting more snow this week. We were in town first weekend of Dec and everything was mostly covered in snow. Road shoes without yaktrax likely aren't going to work. Trail shoes might be fine.

From town to the gondola parking lot is clear. Beyond that the bike trail is icy.

Doing the Leadville 100 MTB is on the bucket list. Have great admiration for anyone who does either
