I've become a big fan of Hoka running shoes for my Camp Gladiator boot camps. I'm on my 3rd pair and looking into my 4th. I've gone with Clifton 6, Bondi 6, Stinson ATR 6 styles in order chronologically. Each time I felt the new pair was better than the previous. I do about 4-5 camps per week. I've got bad knees so I like as much cushion as possible while not being too heavy.

Any suggestions on Hoka style for my next pair?

I'm looking at Challenger ATR & Elevon but open.

I switched from brooks ghost to Hoka Clifton 6 and now 7. Huge fan.

Big Hoka fan here too. I just got the Mach4's and absolutely love them. I had the Rincons before and loved how extremely lightweight they were. The Mach4's seem like they'll be a little more durable and they've had great reviews.

G'dang I want to like Hokas but they're just too narrow for my feet. I require a wider toe box and mid foot (Morton's neuroma) but have a narrow heel so EE won't work as it's tough to lock down. I recently gave the Mach 4s a spin for a total of 25mi and they were great at first and on shorter distances but after about 6mi I hated them.

I'm needing a Jew pair of every fat shoes and thought about checking them out. I need a large toe box so sounds like these are out

I like my road shoes (clifton, i think), but the trail shoes (ATR?) seemed narrow and I didn't like them.

It can't hurt to give them a try. runningwarehouse.com will let you try them out a bit and ships free both ways. I trail run in Topo Athletic shoes and love them but their road shoes leave a lot to be desired.

I have Clifton 6 in wide. It's comfortable on foot but it failed for me as a running shoe because the foot-bed seems to curve up on the big toe side, just where I need it to be wide, and I got pain a mile or two into the run. Now I wear them to work. I keep hearing great things about the Mach 4 but have the same concerns and it doesn't come in 2E, though it is available locally to try on.

Wide Hokas are awesome. Best running shoe since the original Brooks Beast, NB 550 and Nike Pegasus!

I use the Rincon 2 regularly for long runs. I used the first generation Carbon X as a race day shoe before the pandemic. I would like to try the Rocket X once I start racing again.

I've been through multiple pairs of Hoka and they work well.

However, go to a legit running store and try them on before you buy.

https://www.hokaoneone.com/sale/

I didn't go through this in a lot of detail, but there seems to be good prices on some models directly through Hoka right now.

you can get hoka in wide now, and the Hoka Stinson is a wide Hoka that may work for you

Check out Altra and Topo. After too many toe blisters and black toenails, I finally ditched Hoka for good. I haven't had a blister or toenail problem in 2 years averaging 100mi/no and a marathon thrown in there. Also, they both have 30-day wear guarantees so you can try them out as well

The only thing to remember in going to topo-altra are the zero drop heel to toe. If you're not used to that you may have some achilles pain. Hoka wearers may not notice it as much though as their drop is usually low at about 5mm

Not all Topo shoes are zero drop

I've had several pairs and they are great new. But tend to break down quickly and actually cause my plantar fasciitis to flare up when worn.

How often do you use them and for what activities? How long is quickly (months)?

Honestly didn't log hours, but exclusively for workouts. I will note that I'm a big guy, 250+ back then, so that definitely played a part since there is so much foam (or whatever) in them.

I use my for 5 one hour boot camps (Camp Gladiator) workouts per week. These workouts are more than just running and contain a bunch of stop/go which puts more wear on the shoes. I give each pair of these workout shoes 6 months which is the common amongst others I've talked to in the workouts. The shoe exteriors still look greats but the soles are worn and time to get another.
