My apologies to bump after myself. But I'm off Reddit and just interested in filling some time.

So, anyone willing to post their quiver? Zwift or Strava stats? Crazy rides?

Haga, you here? Solid Leadville, my man.

I did Conquer The Coast...

Currently contemplating scratching an itch...

Wanting to so how I'd feel on a Colnago Y1Rs or V5Rs. Not set on a Colnago, but have an interest. As far as I can tell the only DFW dealer is Cadence, but they don't seem they have any in stock. Any reasonable suggestions of how to accomplish this?

Why that bike? Just go all in on MVDP and Jasper Philipsen. Canyon Aeroad

I plan on looking around at other brands as well, but that's what has my curiosity currently.

Shama in Houston has a Y1RS in stock.

Bike maintenance - what do you all do for upkeep with keeping chain/rest of bike clean, etc?

New cyclist… decided to upgrade my tires. Holy crap getting these continental tires on my rims without popping a tube is damn near mission impossible. I'm going for a morning run now since my bike is dismantled.

I'm out here with soap and water, working the bead to the middle of the rim, I'm using my wife's blow dryer to heat up the rubber.

The most annoying part is, I got the first side on, so I know the second side can fit, but damn. I can't even feel my thumbs this morning typing this.

What's everyone's opinion on rouvy vs zwift? For this winter, I am upgrading my indoor bike to a wahoo kickr bike. Wife is starting to get into triathlon so being able to swap sizes without switching bikes on a trainer seems worth it. Rouvy just added lifetime Grand Prix rides so I think in the next few weeks I'm going to ride unbound 200k. Indoors I might honestly go insane, but once my bike arrives, my set up ought to be pretty sweet. Bought a 45 inch 4K TV mounted to the wall directly in front of it and a few fans on either side of the bike. Going to run whatever app off of an iPad mirrored to the TV.

Goal this year is to hit 4000 miles riding. I've done about 2000 on my gravel bike, another 1000 on my mountain bike, and a few hundred on my indoor Nordic track bike that I'm replacing. That's not serious mileage compared to some road riders but assuming I get these last few hundred miles knocked out still pretty proud of the accomplishment.

I use Zwift, have for 8 years, because I can link TriDot and execute my riding schedule perfectly through that controlled to my smart trainer. I run them on a Nuc mini computer with HDMI to monitor and separate TV to watch shows.

I tried rouvy because they had Ironman courses. But honestly didn't find it as appealing. I'd rather ignore the ride and watch something else.

I have an ultrasonic cleaner and use the Silca Super Secret wax.

There's lots to learn. The opposite beat should be pushed to the very middle to give the side that needs to stretch can have the most room to.

Then choose your tools. I use: Tyre Glider + Cush Core big boy lever. Works every time. I'll use some bead wax if needed. But I'm mainly working tubeless on.

I found some old 25mm tires and got curious with the latest TPU. I can hand wrenched those on. Hilarious how pliable they were.

Chana: hot immersion was. Silca speed + speed/endurance chips as needed.

I tinker because I like to tinker. MTB lower forks once a month. Full rebuild a year. Cranks and BB pulled when it gets crunchy. Pulled and RD twice a year. Headset and wheel bearings once a year. Tubeless sealant, lol, wall of tires has me always swapping. Top it off if I can't hear liquid with a jiggle.

On the topic of tires, I have been running maxxis dissectors for a while. Thought is they are a nice compromise between rolling resistance and traction in corners. Well, I was due up for new tires and swapped for Vittoria peyotes. First off, holy crap the improvement on climbing was shocking. I'm basically PRing every single major segment I ride on Strava purely based on climbing. And not by a little bit. I'm blowing up a 22 minute PR by like a minute and a half.

I was prepping myself for slower descents because of the worse grip but it turns out that my cornering skills are bad enough that I wasn't coming close to using all of the dissector and the peyotes have more than enough grip for my lackluster skills! So that's exciting. Or maybe be depressing?

Anyway, might need burlier tires for trips out west, but here in Ohio I am an XC tire convert.

I'm one that likes to see data, but I could see the Vittoria's being faster in many situations. For those playing the Marginal Gains Drinking Game, "it depends". Just looking at the treads, I'd prefer the Vittoria's over the Maxxis, but we're sponsored by them, so it benefits me to say that.

There's probably also a certain bit that is improved fitness and improved skill, so don't give all the credit to the tires. Keep riding, having fun, and pushing yourself

I was able to get both tires swapped using a tire jack. That was helpful.

I have been doing 15-30 miles indoor a week and about a 30-40 mile long ride outside on a saturday morning.

I am riding a secondhand Specialized Allez -- I think the entry level, maybe 7-8 years old. Rim brakes. Way more fun than the peloton or just running/lifting weights.

After a few months, I have noticed climbs are easier and I feel comfortable for longer periods of time. Super fun. Something about going fast and balancing keeps you engaged.

Dissectors are notorious for dissecting your face! Def not a true XC tire. Peyote's are a true XC tire (light trail in their trail casing tire). Super fast. The compound is something else and I don't flat mine at all on gravel/normal XC duty.

Honestly, west has more forgiving trails. More predictable. East and central rocks are so random and jagged they flat everything. Just look at the Grand Prix this year. Stuff out west is super predictable. Little Sugar/Unbound are guaranteed flat. Period. You will.

What is the general consensus on cold-weather cycling gear?

I was heavily into cycling about 5 years ago, then stopped. This year has seen me on a health kick, and I want to get back into riding my road bike, but the weather in the DFW metro is turning cool, fast.

I figure I'll need upper and lower body thermals, maybe a pair of gloves, and maybe shoe covers? Problem is I have no idea what brands/options are worth a damn vs. what's garbage.

Does "you get what you pay for" and/or "buy once, cry once" still apply?

'preciate any recs y'all may have.

Hasn't been that cool yet !

I am also curious about this. I bought some smart wool base layers for top and bottom, then I have a long bib and a kit jacket. I bought some therm wind proof gloves and a wool head cover to wear under my helmet.

I also have a vest, I may go thermal base layer up top and the vest and then bib on the bottom for the medium cool days. I'll play it by ear.

It really depends on how much you are going to use it. I generally prefer to buy nicer stuff, and I hate being cold. I do strongly recommend layers so that you can take stuff off as you warm up.

I have a pair of bib tights and a pair of fleece bib tights for bottoms. If it's too cold for that, it's too cold for me. For the top, I have several different layers. I've found the Sun is the biggest factor in how I layer. Otherwise, I recommend very warm shoe covers and gloves.

Coincidentally, we are doing a team order of winter clothing right now, if anyone wants some of our kit.

It's the same one we've been wearing all over the world this year, and will not change for 2026.

First ever 50 mile ride. 17mph average. I feel better and performed better this week than two weekends ago when I did 40 miles. 50 miles with lots of snacks is better than 40 miles with no snacks! 53 degrees probably also helped.

Had big plans for the fall/winter. Coming off of Latoja, had a buddy who had been having a rough year due to crashes that wanted to go out and just do a long ride just because so I figured that'd be no issue. The plan was to do a 240mile one day ride in either October or November. Instead, I got covid the first week of October and now can still barely put any effort down without immediately draining the tank and feeling heavy fatigue for the next two days. About to do an hour @ ~135W on the trainer which previously wouldn't get me above ~115bpm average, but last week had me at 140bpm average (155bpm max), so we're doing great.

I'm in some of them, but it's mostly our professional riders. And yes, I've lost 60+ pounds.

"You get what you pay for" is sliding scale that is greatly exaggerated in cycling. The most expensive stuff is maybe marginally better than the middle of the road stuff.

Layers work well in Texas. Start with a base layer.I usually go for the sleeveless kind that I wear under a jersey. I have a couple of cheap ones from Amazon that work fine.
Then use arm warmers and full fingered gloves. Under 45 degrees, I want thicker gloves.
Arm warmers come in different thicknesses, and they are the first things to get thrashed if you fall, so I wouldn't spend a lot there. I have a couple of pair, and the fleece lined ones are super warm. And you can roll them down or put them in your pocket when the sun warms the planet.
I have some toe covers, not full shoe covers when it's below 50. It has to be really cold for the full shoe cover to make an appearance.
Long, thicker socks as well.
I hardly ever wear full length bibs or leg warmers. I have some knee warmers that are great and will get me well in the 30's.
For me, hands, feet, and ears are what ruin my cold rides, so I also wear a headband over ears, or something like that. If it's really cold, will take a neck gaiter that I am able to pull up over my chin.

Starting out, but some cheap stuff to see what you like, and then determine what you want to spend money on.

Or skip al of that, and buy a Kickr Bike !

That's the play there. I have had it for about a month paired to rouvy and it is pretty sweet!

I went out yesterday morning. It was 43 north of the airport at 6 am. I wore a long bib, wool socks, wool base layer, jersey, wind breaker vest, light wool cap under my helmet for my ears, and thick wind breaking gloves. I was only cold for the first 10 mins and then I settled in.

Only issue I had yesterday was a gnat flying into my eye. I guess I need clear glasses to wear when it's still dark out.

Anybody wear pedal mafia? Looking at their jersey Black Friday sales and can't determine the correct sizing for me. Some reviews say to size down while others say true to size.
