Son is at the tail end of a sinus infection.

He showed me his nostril and I used a pair of forceps to remove this huge nasty thing about the size of my thumb from the first knuckle to the end.

I can see more way up there, but not willing to try again. Son said he could feel the tugging way up in his head when I tugged on what I got.

We're making an ENT appointment, but it will be the 20th at the earliest. If it's nose polyps is that a surgical procedure to remove them and do they grow back?

If it's sinus infection booger / snot related will it dry up on its own or still need to be removed?

He's a senior at A&M and we're working around his schedule.

Had surgery to remove polyps, and yes they can come back. Don't think you could pull a polyp out with tweezers without causing a lot of pain/bleeding.

Get a neti pot in the mean time.

Doubtful that it's a polyp. Sometimes the little boogers can get stuck deep in there and you can feel a tug when they get pulled out. Polyps would almost certainly bleed when coming out.

Given the context of a URI/snotty nose, chances point towards it just being mucous and goo from the nose. I agree on the netipot. Do a few good flushes, should see some of them breaking loose and falling out.

What I pulled out was the size of a small oyster. Looked like that thing that flew across the room and stuck to Spock's back in the original Star Trek series.
