I don't want a home gym but I'm looking to get a cool weight bench with a leg extension and curl on it that will support over 400 lbs (that weight is me AND lifting 150-200 lbs lol.) I'm asking because the benches I was looking at in Academy and Dick's Sporting Goods that were all around $100 give or take a few bucks looked ok but I saw a review or two that said they weren't that sturdy and that one even collapsed when a guy was benching 200 lbs. I noticed a bowflex one? I think? at Nebraska Furniture Mart that looked ok but I wanted suggestions from Texags if anyone knows of a good one. I was also hoping for some weights to be able to put on the leg extensions and if anyone has barbell suggestions on where to buy those as well I'd appreciate it. I already have some dumbbells. Thanks in advance.

Depends....
How much do you want to spend?

Craig's list is a good option.

I imagine up to $350 at the most but I'm hoping for one $100-$250.

I bought a bench off a graduating upperclassman friend in high school that had the leg curl/extension add on. It sucked. The problem was the size of it and the pivot point where it was installed made it difficult to get any reasonable range of motion before the weight vector was being supported by the weight arm. So just be sure to try them out with weight before you use them.

Okay. $350 is what I'd spend for a bar. I'd go a different direction. The leg lift stuff is almost worthless. Leg extensions but a bad shear force on your knees and you can do so much more with a barbell.

I know you didn't ask, but I'm a little bored and this is fun for me.

Get a Texas Power Bar $274

Get a decent rack - I looked on Crags list in San Antonio and didn't see any I loved but here is a good used one for $615

You can buy weights on Craigslist. Here is 190 lbs for $100. Add that to your bar weight and that's 235. Add more as you need it.

So entry into a "decent" set up is going to run you around $1000. I'm sure you can find a power rack for a better price and you don't need a power bar. You can get a regular bar for about $180 new. I bet if you are patient you can get a decent set up off of Craig's list for about $500, but you need to be patient and know what you are looking at.

Then again, my opinions are warped and I own my own monolift.

OP, I assume you're in Dallas. If so, send me an email at my username at gmail.

I have something that might work for you. And I need to free up some space!

I just posted this in the classifieds.

Might be of interest to the OP.

You'd fit right in on the Outdoors Board.

OP: I'd like to buy my first handgun. My budget is $500. Suggestions?

OB Posters recommend $5,000 Wilson Combat 1911.

LOL! At least I prefaced it with "I was bored," and it was for my entertainment.

Forget the leg curl bench in that price range, and forget about them since there are much better bang for your buck exercises. Spend the money elsewhere

Thanks for all the responses! I'm still looking. For those of you saying "forget the leg lift", how do you work out your legs without one? I know I can do all of that at the gym but I was looking for a home solution for when I can't make it to the gym.

Squats, deadlifts, step-ups, power cleans, farmers walks, lunges, tire flips, bodyweight leg curls (a lot harder than you think), pulls, etc. are just some.
