I am on week 3 of Crossfit (2x week) and started runing 2-3 times the other days (2-3 miles each time). Finally decided enough was enough with my seditary lifestyle and flabby belly. I am currently 6'1" weighing 204 lbs (I'm 37 y/o) In the last 2 years I have gotten down to 185lbs with just running and eating better but got bored with just running and just ended up working all the time anyway.

I see how Crossfit is addictive (it reminds me of the crapouts we used to go through when I was at A&M in the Corps) and I look to bump up to 3x week in the next couple of weeks. One thing I did discover is that I have a completely weak upper body, so we will see how that will improve. Most importantly in the near term for me, do you guys find Crossfit helpful with weight loss?

Its all about diet. Are you burning more than you are eating? Are you tracking your intake?

Yes...absolutely tracking. Doing a modified low fat/lower cal diet. Couldn't go full blow paleo.

Good. Paleo is not long term.

Get a dunk test. Determine your RMR. Eat 1.2 your RMR on workout days and your RMR on rest days and you will lose a ton. Get a dunk test every 3 months or so.

i am not losing weight on crossfit, but i am dropping fat. My diet is not on point all the time and then alcohol late at night doesnt help.

I suggest you re-check your body fat percentages as this is likely not the case.

Lost 20lbs doing Crossfit since September. Like others said, it's all about your diet. I didn't lose any weight until i cleaned up my diet sometime after the beginning of the year.

I've lost 30 pounds in the past year and a half, but probably 50 pounds in fat. I've not lost much weight technically in nearly a year now, but have replaced fat with muscle.

If I cleaned up my diet I'd lose that last 10 pounds I ought to lose... But I can't help myself lately. Crossfit has caused me more food cravings than any other workout regimen I've ever tried.

How many Crossfit workouts a week do you guys do?

i lost some weight when i initially started (10 pounds or so). i eat ok but i don't track calories or follow paleo or anything like that.

over the last 8-9 months or so my weight hasn't really changed, but my body fat percentage certainly has. not as low as i would like (but again, i'm not as focused on the diet side) but i'll take it.

5-6x a week. I normally rest on Sunday and/or Thursday depending on how I feel.

I lost around 50 pounds the first 9 months I did crossfit (going on two years now). I started strict paleo and slowly adding things back in. Wish I would have taken more measurements (body fat percentage etc) because I've definitely added muscle mass so hard to say how many pounds of fat I lost.

I lost 60+ lbs doing crossfit and paleo. My diet has been sloppy since I went to Africa and I've gained 10 lbs back, but I'm still in the best shape in the last 20 years.

I have dropped about 8 lbs and pant size doing CF with little very little diet modification in 3 months. Next step is diet tweaks.
