How long do you want to ignore this user?
Just released in December, anybody else doing this or planning on it sometime soon??? I just ordered mine today and I'm VERY excited about it. I did P90X a little over 3 years ago. I posted pics on Texags along the way and that really helped me stay accountable and lots of great tips from you guys. I got some video of my 90 days and made a youtube video also... it was all helpful to stay on task.

I've been doing P90X ever since then using 2-3 of my favorite workouts every week. The problem has always been time. It was fine for 90 days, but with a wife a 3 kids it's tough to find 1 hour or more to workout consistently. I've never done an official 2nd round of P90X because of that. P90X 3 using 30 minute (high intensity) workouts is a great idea. I'm sure I could develop my own 30 minute routines at this point, but I get better results following a DVD because I'll always know when I'm slacking or falling behind.

I'm still shaking off the Holiday rust, but I'll be ready to start in a week or two. I'm really hoping for some great results. Would like to hear from some of ya'll if your interested in starting around the same time... support group!

I'm doing it to be a supportive husband... And get much less obese. Day 3 Yoga was today and absolutely infuriated me. I don't think that is the intent. I had to sneak off to the gym while she went to lunch to lift the anger out of me. I didn't want to hurt her feelings.

I'm fairly sore and the high energy workouts are fun, but I find it frustrating to try and emulate someone on TV. I suck at it. Like I can't figure out which foot is forward, or am I supposed to be bending over this leg, etc... I hope it gets a little easier.

In all these beachbody workouts the first time through is more of a demo. They don't expect/want you to do everything 100% the first time through.

P90x was my gateway drug to doing alot more yoga and flexibility training which led to more weight training. It's made a huge difference.

Wife just started 90x3 this week as well after running through T25. I've done a round of p90x. I did notice the first month doesn't have one single "worksheet" workout. I haven't looked at it too closely other than that.

I am considering jumping into it soon just to mix things up for a bit while I nurse a bum shoulder back to where I can lift heavy again.

I agree. The P90X yoga is an 1 1/2 hours though so I have rarely gone back to it since i finished P90X. I've mostly rotated all the upper body workouts, plyo, & ab ripper.

I'm really looking forward to Yoga in X3 because you can blast it out in 30 minutes. At 35 I just want to look good and be athletic. I like doing the tough mudders so being flexible and having good core strength is also important to not only do good, but avoiding injury.

I had a LOL at myself sort of moment this morning. I planned on ramping up my workouts for another week or two before I started X3... then I remembered that I had planned on having that man surgery that keeps me from having any more kids this month too. Might have to delay the start of X3 just a little bit... I don't think that procedure is conducive to being P90X ready!!!

FWIW I would usually split the 90x yoga into two parts. When 90x2 yoga came out I subbed it for the 90x yoga.

Cheater! No, I did that myself too a few times. I was tempted to get P90X 2 for a while but never pulled the trigger. Really excited for X3. Probably won't be able to start until Feb 1 now, but I'll get the stuff in and start reading the guides & quickly previewing some of the workouts. I'll have my nutrition plan and workout schedule all ready to go.

PS: I'm sort of dreading getting on a nutritional plan again. I eat pretty healthy ever since my first round, but it's not a strict P90X diet though. I guess if I'm gonna do the 90 days again, I should eat appropriately and really do it the right way. I can literally see all that pumpkin pie and Christmas sweets hanging around my wasteline right now. Getting old sucks!

Wife got me it for Christmas. We've done p90x several times in the past. The 30min workouts worry me a little. We usually do the workouts bright and early in the morning. Is there any warmup or slow startup ?
jr15aggie
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I've sorta wondered the same thing... P90x had fairly long warm up sessions. I doubt x3 has much of that in 30 minutes. If you got it for Christmas, can't you pop in a dvd and find the answer?

Most of the research in the last several years has invalidated the need for an extensive warmup routine prior to body weight exercise. Most of the recent BB stuff has taken advantage of that research to shorten routines.

I love the P90x yoga, but rarely do it all at once. Don't love the X2 yoga as much or any of the workouts on X2 as much! Lots of balancing on balls and stuff.

I checked out the first two videos. The disc's do contain an extra "cold start" warmup routine of about 12 minutes in length. However, each video seems to spend a minute or two warming you up - so the cold start is optional.

Good info. I always felt P90x was a bit overboard on the warm up. In the years since I have pretty much done a short version of the warm ups to get to the good stuff. Glad to know X3 only has a couple minutes and then gets to work.

My order should arrive this Wednesday. I'll either start the following week or that week after. My allergies are full on crazy right now (any Austin are folks that can relate?) so I'm not having as much luck getting in a bunch of warm up workouts to get ready for it.

PS: I have been craving junk food for a week now and it's usually winning over my willpower. It's like my body knows what's coming and is getting it while it can.

I am going to just do the program. It looks good. I'm going to do the "P90x3 MASS" program. If I want more I might do some doubles.

I'm curious to see what sort of results I get.

Post pics! I did when I did P90X the first time. Shirtless pics on TexAgs... that's hardcore!

I'm not sure about the different programs... my set doesn't arrive until tomorrow so I'll get to reading about all the options n stuff. I expect to just do the standard deal for all around fitness. I will either start next week or the week after so we can be moral support.

I too am really curious how I will look after. I'm in MUCH better shape than when I did P90 three years ago (I was almost 200 lbs. back then). Other than the winter coat around my waste-line I have decent muscle tone. So being that I'm starting off in decent shape, I wonder if I can really get a "beachbody" if I work hard. Last time I got more skinny than anything... I won't be limiting the carbs/calories as much this time around so maybe I can get a little more lean muscle mass.

Here is the youtube I made 3 years ago with my first round:

I've got one more workout tomorrow to finish my first week. I'll give my one week impression after. The short version so far... I really like it but it seems to be lacking in the abs department. I think the workout tomorrow has a lot of ab/core emphasis. I'll post more specifics in the next few days.

1st Week Impressions:

- To start, like any other P90X workout you will need at least a couple weeks of warm-up workouts if you haven't done your normal routine in a few weeks. You should probably take longer if you are literally coming off the couch.

- Preparation is key once again. These videos move much quicker from one move to the next with little explanation in between. Tony does a great job describing each move, but he's usually talking while the others are working. Quickly watching the videos ahead of time is a good idea, otherwise your first time through is spent watching instead of working. In general, whether it's the workouts or nutrition, you need to plan ahead before just jumping into it.

- 30 minute workouts are a breath of fresh air. I really do believe they can get good results from this because people will push themselves harder if they know it won't last long. After only 1 week I would struggle with the thought of going back to 1 to 1.5 hour workouts. I have no hesitation whatsoever going into week 2, even though a couple workouts were really tough.

- The workouts are very different from P90X and that makes me happy. There are some dedicated "pump you up" workouts, but for the most part you are moving around a lot more and using many muscle groups in each workout. Your Legs and Core are worked in just about every workout... for example, they have you balancing on one leg while doing hammer curls.

- I'm very happy with the core focus, but I have my doubts that I could get a 6 pack from these workouts. Phase 2 might bring more dedicated ab work, but the fact that they now sell ab ripper separately is VERY lame. I'm pretty sure I'll be incorporating the old ab ripper as a morning workout a couple times a week.

Overall I'm very satisfied as a P90X grad from 3 years ago. Once I'm done with this 90 days, it is very likely that I will not go back to the X workouts and instead keep using X3 workouts around 3-4 times a week.

I'm a P90X "graduate" from a few years ago. I ordered X3 this week and plan to complete it, too. As is stated above, the idea of a 30 min workout versus a 1 hour one obviously is appealing.

I'll say, though, that one shouldn't be concerned about jumping right in without any ramp-up. I did P90X from an absolute cold start, not having done much of any "workout" for years. Sure, the first week was terrible…every part of my body hurt and just brushing my teeth and putting on deodorant was terrifyingly painful. But I did it.

I decided one day to do P90X…so I ordered it and started the program the day the box arrived on the doorstep.

Don't be afraid to jump right in. Just be smart about it.

Great to hear some good impressions so far.

Have had the program sitting infront of me for a week now, but am waiting probably until Monday to start it up while recovering from a septoplasty/turbinate reduction.

Only been a week since the procedure, hoping that 1.5 weeks is enough time to recover to start working out again.

That's true... you don't have to do pre-workouts before starting, but the "be smart" about it is crucial. So many people get all hyped up about it, go all out day 1, and end up not able to move after day 2 and say "forget this".

I still say it's much better to go ahead and get some of that initial rust off before hand... you'll still need to take it a little easy week 1, but you should be fully engaged by week 2. Nothing wrong with coming off the couch, but it will be week 3 or 4 before you are really able to start bringing it 100%. At least that's my experience.

I definitely want to hear from you guys as you get started. So far I'm having fun with it. I think I said this above, but it was much harder this week because I wasn't taking it sorta easy like I did week 1. There is a lot you can get done in 30 minutes if you push yourself!

One of the things I'm most happy about is Yoga is much more enjoyable than the X1 version. I don't need 30-40 minutes of different variations of warrior poses and sun salutations. In Yoga X 3 you get some of that in up front, get in some good balance stuff, and then get some stretching. Does everything I need to help with my flexibility & stability and is over in 30... very nice!

Rest day today, week 3 starts tomorrow. Really liking it. This week was definitely much harder. I didn't overdo it week 1, but I had no limitations this week. Some of the move combos really hurt /burn. There are a couple moves I haven't been able to master or I have to take a break midway so I have some work to do. But overall it's very doable, you just have to push yourself.

I'm pretty sure phase 2 gets intense from what little preview I've done of it.

Starting this up today as I'm feeling pretty good since the deviated septum surgery two weeks ago.

Have peppered P90X workouts into my routine for a good while since doing my last go of the program. Looking forward to this updated version... bought the elite package to get the three extra workouts since what I've heard is that it could use a little more Abs.

Will start documenting my thoughts as well if anyone would like to hear them!

Starting Date- 3 Feb 2014

H/W: 6'4 245 lbs

Fitness Level: Okish... normally worked out 4-5 times a week doing a weight routine, with 2 Insanity classes at my local gym included in that total.

Week 6. Going well. Down 10. Now 232 (6'2").

I did classic, then lean, now I'm doing classic block two. Suits me better. I don't want to turn into a biker/runner body.

I'm still not able to get thru most workouts without a cheat (knee down during long plank, hitting the pause button after burpees, etc.) but getting close.

Nutrition has gotten serious in the last week and it's time to make some progress.

I love the variation and the short intense workouts. I like being able to dial my intensity to fit my day and mood. I don't like the choreographed routines (yoga, MMX) the first time since I spend so much time saying "Wtf?" the first time thru, but the get better as I go.

Great program for us so far.
jr15aggie
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Glad to hear you are doing well in week 6. Definitely keep pressing on the nutrition. I was hard-core with it when I did P90X three years ago... I've had a harder time this go round in X3. I don't have all that weight to lose and I don't want to under-eat this time, but the late night cravings have been too much. But I'm in week 4 and I'm starting to win the battle. I cut back a little each day and my body is starting to adjust.

PS: What you said about having to pause and/or modify some moves... perfectly normal. For most people it isn't until closer to 90 days when they start mastering some of the workouts. And pay no attention to that dude in "The Challenge"... he's repping 18 pullups and 40 pushups... that is flat out insane. As a p90 vet I'm only repping 8 pull and around 30 push. 18 pullups... seriously what's he on!?

My week 4 update:

P90X3 is friggin awesome! The variety keeps it as fun as can be and there is a lot to challenge you in only 30 minutes. I was in decent shape when I started (I did a tough mudder in October for example) and I've been encouraged that I am already mastering 90% of the moves. For the most part I'm challenging myself to go harder, not just survive. I've quickly regained a lot of lost flexibility and balance from the yoga workouts. I think it's mostly because pretty much all the workouts incorporate some flexibility, balance, core work, etc. What I've done so far has been awesome whether you are already in shape or needing to get there.

Ab Update:
I said earlier I was worried about the lack of a dedicated Ab workout if you don't pay extra for the ab ripper x3. I'm in my recovery week so I added the original Ab Ripper after my scheduled 30 min. workout..... I was VERY surprised at how well I did. I only had to take 1 quick set break in the middle, everything else I mastered. And if anybody has done the original ab ripper, it is BRUTAL if you have not done much ab work. Most people have to take multiple breaks unless they've done it a lot. So my only conclusion is that I'm working my abs a lot more than I thought I was in X3. I'm going to keep incorporating Ab Ripper because I think it's important, but I'm really happy with how X3 incorporates ab work.

I'm curious what phase 2 has to offer. I have a feeling it's going to be more intense. I'll find out next week!

Phase two is whooping my ass.

But I'm still fat, so I've got that going for me.

Down 16lbs since 1/6.
jr15aggie
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I start phase 2 today. I previewed the first workout and it definitely looks to take it up a notch. Like Nom said above, if you aren't in great shape it's gonna be hard. Modification is definitely your friend.

For me it's good news bad news... I'm in pretty decent shape so (good news) I should be able to press really hard, but (bad news) it's going to hurt. If I can focus my resolve to do well, I could see some really good changes in the next 30 days.

As I write this I'm 100% ready to take it head on... we'll see where I'm at 15 minutes into it with my arms on fire.

I'm another 90 day round from doing V pull ups.

And my shoulders are weak. They bother me more than anything in phase 2.
culdeus
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I worked my way up to doing 150 pullups in P90x legs/back routine, but Vs still murdered me.

I somewhat think he leaves some of the more absurd stuff in there as a stretch goal, not actually thinking people would do it the first round.
