I guess they've been using that same excuse for years and haven't figured out a solution. I ordered a Model Y in January 2022 and was told it would be 9 months. I picked it up in July 2022, so it was a couple months ahead of schedule. In the weeks leading up to getting it, the delivery date changed at least 10 times. One day, I got a notice saying it would be ready in 5 days. Then, about noon the following day I got a notice saying it was ready immediately and if I didn't come before the end of that same day it would be offered to someone else and I'd be put back in a queue and it would be about a month. We moved some stuff around and picked it up that day.
The car was a blast to drive, but it had more problems than any other vehicle I've ever owned. Random trim pieces popping off, AC not working properly, screen shutting off while driving, sentry mode working intermittently, pedestrian warning speaker stopped working, continuous alarms/warnings on the screen, etc. Nearly every time we contacted Tesla, they ran a diagnostic and the computer showed everything was working "within spec". We finally got fed up with it after 3 years and sold it. They don't hold their value at all either. I paid $56k for it and sold it 3 years and only 18k miles later for about $25k. I got offers from 5 places. 4 of them were between $18k-$21k and CarMax offered the $25k.
Here's your problem...
You honestly expect to get an offer that isn't 50% below what it should be from...carmax? Or any of the other ones that exist because they make the process "easy?"
FYI, im looking at used teslas right now, and there is NO ONE selling a Y or 3 anything close to what you sold it at. They hold their value damn well and sell almost instantly, and frankly it's frustrating finding one at all that hasn't been retitled after being totaled, at a reasonable price that doesnt sell within a few days. I pretty much gave up since what you describe isn't at all what im experiencing now at least, and am looking at used BMWs, because those electrics actually do drop dramatically in value, unlike teslas.
Im sorry (ok, not really), but using carmax as a basis of complaint is just silly. Of course you're gonna get screwed going with the easy options. Teslas hold their value remarkably well, just not to the easy selling options.
The rest of your issues, well...yeah, that I won't argue against since I have no first hand experience there. Sucks though, sounds like you got screwed every step of the way, even if the last step wasn't really teslas fault.
