Ran across this guy and his truck at a Love's fuel stop a few days ago. I believe he said it was a 1946 model but not 100% sure on that. They were built for military use. It was originally powered by a 6 cylinder engine and that was accessed through a cover inside the cab. He replaced that with an LS 6.0 engine and a new transmission. He built and installed some kind of custom frame support to move the engine and transmission down and back to get rid of the "hump" inside the cab. The body sits on a van frame with the original suspension. He installed air conditioning, power steering, power windows and a modern sound system. Running boards were installed to give it a lowered look. He said it still has a ways to go with paint and body work plus some additional interior work but it's slowly coming together. You don't see rides like that every day.
