They have a Used 2026 Ram 1500 that I am interested in, but don't want to fly down there just to find out it is a bait and switch type place or that the truck has been smoked in but "cleaned". I can normally still smell it, and my wife always can.

Don't know anything about them, but I would just forego everyone and talk to Mark Dodge in Lake Charles. I don't think anyone will come close to them.
They are easy to work with and don't try to pressure you into anything.

unfortunately, I'm not sure how long this is going to last. stellantass is working to implement MAP across the line in the US. i'm sure deals will still be out there. but, they won't be able to advertise it anymore.
I have looked at Mark Dodge, but this is a 26 with under 3K miles and seems to be a steal.
Some comments:
1) it's very optioned up including the multi-function tailgate so make sure the payload capacity works for you. It's likely around 1k lbs or less.
2) Compared to brand new, you're giving up the 10yr/100k powertrain warranty as that's for original owners only in 2026 models.
3) Check to see if it has complete warranty history. Some of these trucks have terrible electrical gremlins that Ram is struggling to remedy. Owner could have just walked away frustrated.
4) See if the dealership is open to having an independent mechanic do a check on it before you travel in.
5) Lastly, make sure you have the deal in writing before you travel in from someone higher up than just the sales guy. You're at a huge disadvantage having to travel in, and it wouldn't be the first time the "truck just got sold this morning, but we have another that's just like it" or "well, we can no longer honor that price due to XYZ..."

live in humble about 12 minutes from there. If you can wait till friday I can get over there to check it out for you.
I could TRY to get there in the evening after work but that's going to be tougher. Although, would likely be easier to get out of there and not spend too much time.
My wife is the one who can smell anything just like yours. Me not so much. But the car is only 3k miles so whomever owned it didn't spend much time in there.
I'd be more worried about issues with the truck like ktownag08 talked about. what does carfax show?

Everything looked pretty good on it, but I guess someone else finally decided it looked good as well. when I messaged them to see what I need to do to hold it till Friday they told me that it was sold earlier today.
They have mandatory add ons that they will not let up on.
I stopped in one day and told them I was ready to buy and would come back the next day but it needed to be done in an hour because I had a baby at the house. They had everything they needed from me.
When I came back they made me sit for 45 min with nothing happening then back and forth on some more things they should have had done.
I eventually bought my 2500 from Mark on my PC from the lobby of Texan CJDR.

Life's too short to put up with most dealers. If I was going to buy a new Ram, it would be Mark Dodge. I hear good things about the Ram dealerships owned by Carvana, however. Never shopped them myself.

To be honest, I would have been worried about why someone already got rid of it. Maybe something was wrong with it, or maybe the owner decided they needed a 2500. I would rather lay a little bit more and get the warranty for peace of mind.
I have never owned a Ram until now, so I was hesitant based on things past, so for around $10 more a month on my payment, I got a 5 year 75k mile bumper to bumper warranty. Already been to Colorado and back and it was the most comfortable 10 hour plus trip I've ever had. Going to run through the stock tires and then upgrade wheels/tires, lift and grille guard.

Their used car department buys a lot of wrecked cars as is from the rental car companies and has them fixed at a body shop nearby off the Hardy Toll road.

This is who I talked to but I think their salespeople all work the same way.
Is building one an option for you? If so, just go to the official RAM website and build a RAM exactly as you want it and save the URL. Email the URL to one of the contacts there and they will give you your no-haggle price same day or next morning. I did this in 2021 and it was a very smooth/quick transaction, including my trade-in.
