I have a 2013 Porsche Boxster convertible I keep in my barn. It was in perfect working order, and I started and drove it routinely. I go into my barn to drive it recently, nothing. I opened the hood and there is polyester padding like from an inside of a seat cushion and a bunch of nuts.
The battery was dead (weird since it was a relatively new battery) and would not charge even when I disconnected it and hooked it up to a trickle charger, so I bought a new battery. Car now powers on fine but when I try to start it, it has error message that I need to shift it into park. it is in park. I cannot move the selector out of park. Also has error message of low engine power but as I said, I cannot even start the engine. The brake lights work. Everything else works fine. Convertible top, windows, electric parking brakes.
Another problem I have is that it is pretty deep in my barn, so I cannot put it in neutral to roll it out to have it towed. I think tow trucks can get around this and I'm calling a flatbed guy I know for this. If not, I read where there is a manual override where I can shift into neutral. But that involves taking off stuff near the shifter, so I'd rather not do that. I will if I must.
I have a code reader, and I'll hook it up tonight to see what it says. Any thougths/suggestions?
F'ing squirrels.
