I am curious to get this board's opinion on buying a vehicle that has been in an accident as your daily driver. I'm mostly a lurker here and do not buy lots of new vehicles (or know much about cars) but am going to need something new soon so I've started looking and found something I really like.

This specific one shows "minor to moderate" damage on the Carfax to the front passenger side. It is also Ford Blue certified.
Based on the Carfax, oil was changed roughly every 9k miles ('23 model, currently has ~45k miles on it).

Would you guys feel comfortable with something like this? Anything particular you would be looking for when going to see it?

Look for panel fit, vibration, and try to get records of who did the work.

unless it's something unique or hard to find i would pass. not worth the risk unless you are getting a big discount.

if you really want it i would get a thorough separate pre purchase inspection first

This is a super easy step to take! Take advantage of it.

I investigate car wrecks for work and come across a lot of vehicles some new but plenty of used cars. Sometimes I run into cars that don't fire airbags only to find out the repair shop sometime in the past didn't replace the control module or reset the original. That's the worst case scenario. Regular folks don't have the tools check this.

We are even being told by a major vehicle manufacturer to be on the lookout for faulty replacement airbags being replaced in cars and to contact them when we come across them. Think temu airbag replacements.

I hate the price of new cars but this kind of thing scares me when it comes to used cars. If you can find any way to see what actually took place that should help.

Agreed. Probably somebody that waited until a dash light told them it was time to change, and then eventually got around to taking it in. Better late than never I suppose.

That might not be accurate information. I would regularly forget to reset my oil life until the light went on, but I would change my oil at regular intervals. Most shops these days do the oil change while you are sitting in the car and forget to remind you.

I change mine every 10k miles. Asked my Porsche mechanic about that. He says every time I split a Cayenne engine, it looks brand new. Oil every 10k miles. Use either Redline or Motul though. Doubt that in the Ford.

That may be the recommendation from Ford also.
