Howdy,
I'm looking for suggestions on an efficient way to sell used tires and wheels. We have all 4 off of a 2024 Toyota Tacoma Limited. Michelin 265/65 R18 tires with approximately 35k miles. This is all OEM. I'm not looking to get a lot, but I don't want them to go to the salvage yard either. I know Facebook Marketplace will be suggested, but as an LOL old, I have been able to live without Facebook. Located in Floresville.
Many Thanks

I've thought about that too & it may be the way. I'm also going to talk to some independent tire shops on the south side of SA & see if they might be interested. Thanks for the suggestion.

Craigslist is mostly dead in my area. FB Marketplace has much more traffic.

You can use a nickname and a one-off email when creating an account so people are less likely to bug you.

Take-off wheels with tires are very narrow, specialized items due to the unique fit. I see people on texags try to get 90% of the value out of them and it doesn't seem to work. Unless you want to list them on craigslist for a few months, I think a used tire & wheel shop is your only option. Or drop the price $100 every month.

And you might sell the tires faster if you remove them from the wheels and list by themselves.

Thank you for the suggestion. Truth be told, I don't necessarily want what they're retail value would be and would be happy selling at a fairly deep discount. As usual, good info here.

The problem is that every truck already has wheels. So when someone goes out and buys aftermarket wheels, there's hardly any buyers for the take-off OEM wheels.

In all seriousness, make an offer that you think would be fair. We are NOT looking for premium price, but not looking to sell for $20 ea. either.

Something to consider, the buyer is likely going to have to pay for dismount and disposal of your current tires. That's $10-20 a wheel which I'd factor into your price.

I wouldn't say hardly any. Fewer, maybe. Some may buy a used vehicle with rims they don't really care for and want the OEMs back on. I'd rather have OEMs in most cases, myself. Plus, the aftermarket rims may actually be easier to sell.

I'd also recommend at least checking out several used tire stores. I could hit 5 or more within 10 minutes of where I am. You might be able to get a quarter on the dollar.

You might also consider splitting up the set. I sold a set of OEM wheels one by one to people who curbed or otherwise damaged a wheel and wanted a matching replacement. I initially wanted to sell them as a set but after a few months with no takers I decided to offer them individually and they all sold in a month. Those were sedan wheels though with little protection by the tire sidewall, so YMMV.

Yeah, my truck had aftermarket wheels when I bought it. I wanted OEM. Couldn't find any. Ended up buying some rims and tires at discount that were OEM size.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

Call a local body shop and see if they're interested. When I built up my jeep years ago the tire shop sold my OEM wheels to a body shop that needed them for an insurance repair. I don't know if that's normal or a unique deal but they paid for over half of the wheels I ended up with.
