Well insurance has officially declared my 2025 F150 tremor a total loss, an unlicensed driver driving his bosses truck came into my lane and hit me head on pretty much.

Now it's time to start the new truck shopping process, main delima is to decided whether I go 150 or 250 this time. Still thinking of sticking with tremor package no matter 150 or 250.

What are the AB's current opinions, leading candidate is a marsh grey or ruby red metallic F-250 with tremor package and the High output 6.7.

I hammered on brakes didn't help much except for diving nose of truck down, after initial impact it spun my truck sideways and his passenger rear corner impacted my drivers side rear door.

Logical response from me: F250 with 7.3 GZ. Don't mess with the diesel ownership cost unless ya need it.

Reckless spending encouragement from me: If you got by with an F150 and it is still an option, sounds like you don't need the 6.7. But never really is about need so send it!

I thought about getting a 3/4 ton diesel when I bought my Ram 1500 a couple months ago. They look so much more badass and can pretty much do anything you need. Unfortunately, for me, I didn't need anything more than what a standard half ton can do.

Current F150 tremor owner here and agree with what has been said

unless you are towing, don't pay the 250 premium, or the diesel premium. If you get to a breakeven point (too many inputs to say) its likely 200k miles out. if you go 250 get the 7.3

250 tremors look way more badass but I have no need for one and can't imagine having to sacrifice the comfort of the 150

I'd stay away from the Ruby Red Metallic. We have a 2017 F150 in that color and it has issues. Had the hood and roof repainted this past winter. Ever since noticing ours having issues last year, I've been paying attention to other with the same color. A large percentage look to have the same issues with fading/streaking and clear coat issues.

I don't know if the super duty Tremor rides any better but my old man's 2024 F250 6.7L 4x4 rides like an oxcart. Literally jarring compared to my Raptor or even the rental 4x4 F150 I'm driving while mine's in the bodyshop.

Maybe ford/ruby red is worse than other brands, but red is the worst color for a car if you want durability.

Red absorbs all other colors of shorter wavelengths and thus degrades faster.

I've had a dark red Ram and a Maroon boat. I will 100% never own either again (or a Ram at all for that matter)

An f250 would be just as totaled, you might feel a little better in the crash, but then you would have to live with that ride.

Be sure to get checked out by a doctor too. That's a pretty big hit.

As a 2500 owner. One of the benefits is that things like brakes and suspension take much longer to wear down and need replacing. My 3500 went 180k miles and it was traded in with all the OEM parts still intact and operating with no issues.

I would get the truck that handles the load you need in a nice trim package. I have few new trucks in KR trim or better, and the half ton is a eleventy billion times easier to get around in. Even with what I do, the half ton will handle 85% of my needs. The F350 Long Bed CC is a necessity but in neighborhoods, or parking lots, I almost always take up two spots so I don't stick out and if things are tight, I'm doing the Austin Powers maneuver to get it where I need it.

Regardless of all of this, we cannot overlook the bold fact that your F150 took a direct hit and you survived, presumably with minor injuries. If that's not a reason to get the same thing, I don't know what is.

I've never tested my Super Duties in that manner so I can't say how they'd perform but I don't think it's totally fair to say it would be the same. I would expect so, but I don't know. I believe it to be true enough that I got a new F250 for my daughter when she turned 16 due to what she tows and the driving she does. I plan to do the same with my son.

My old man totaled an F250 XLT diesel that was less than 24 hours old in a similar impact before he got the one I mentioned above. Had a truck pull out in front of him when he was going 70mph. Doesn't take much more than airbag deployment.

Glad you were not seriously injured. Younger me always had a 3/4 ton truck to daily drive. Eventually I bought a 1/2 ton- several tundras and now an f150, keeping an older 3/4 ton truck at the ranch for hauling trailers. The 2016 F250 stays connected to a hay dump trailer or cattle trailer most of the time.
The F150 is just so much less rough, especially on rock/ gravel roads, but also on pavement compared to my son's similar equipped F250. The F250 diesel is a rough ride in our area. I'd only go 250 if you really need it to haul with. Easier to park in a garage/ parking lot and cheaper to maintain also.

F250 tremors have a 350 rear-end

Mine rides like a covered wagon. But it's a big badass monster truck.
