I have been adding the "brow" that window tinters offer when having your car windows tinted and like it. Helps cut off some of the sun while driving into it
I'm sorry but the Brow is just absolutely hideous. And honestly pretty distracting when driving. I had a work truck with it for a week or two and made them take it off.

5% all the way around, except the windshield with is 50% with a 5% brow. Windows so dark, you need a flashlight to see me.

Just a heads up, as you age you need more light to see. I'm an optometrist and deal with this daily.

I test drove a car that had 5% on the front and rear windows (not windshield) and hated it. On the interstate, I couldn't see there was a car in the next lane. So just something to think of if you aren't in your 20s or 30s.

Howdy, OLD Ag here in Rockport, TX. Had never heard of this before, Ceramic tint, so googled it and it looks like the way to go in our intense Texas Sun. Never thought Rockport would have a tint outfit, but turns out we have TWO! Who wooda thunk it??? One of the provides for online quotes, my truck is a 2026 RAM 1500 Tungsten with the fancy leather interior, it has to be parked outside and I worry about the sun on the leather.

Long story short, my on-line quote for their best product was $829.00 for windshield and all windows. Is this about the right amount for this type of work??? Thanks!

Probably paying a little bit more for resort/island living. It's a convenience tax

You can ceramic tint your house windows as well.

I got my windows tinted this week.

Here's what I learned/did.

I went with the Lumar IRX. 30% for the sides and rear glass for $465
IRX 15 on the sunroof for $120. And Air80 for the windshield (clear) for $175.
$720 total.

I was told the IRX is the premium product and Lumar is a good product. Going with the mid tier film would've saved about $100.

Considering all the glass on a LandCruiser I thought that seemed decent.

It's only been a day but the windshield has some waves/distortion when wearing polarized shades. It's not major, but it's there sometimes.

I ordered the static cling sheets for the stickers. Works great. I'm about to see how well that works for a dash can mount

The tint shop lost/trashed my tolltag. So I had to order a new one.

Early impressions, the sides and back glass are noticeably darker, since the glass was colored to start with. Today was much cooler than the last few days, but the car seemed to be cooler than what I'd normally observe.

Howdy again, need to learn more from y'all prior to visiting the tint shop. Are the percentage values given the amount of sun/light blockage the film provides, ie 70% is blocked, 30% enters the vehicle? The 5% film must be like a blackout curtain, is that correct?

I see you get different %'s for different windows. What percentages do y'all recommend for a pickup, and sunroof?

What about registration stickers, do they remove my existing sticker, if so, how to reattach? See there are patches of some kind to put on film, what/where do you get them?

Thanks, remember, I am an OLD!

You are correct that lower number is darker tint, but the number is the % of light it lets through, called Visible Light Transmission (VLT).

So for example, 5% tint allows 5% of visible light through (or blocks 95%).

Legal is 35 on front doors.

Rear windows and doors and moonroofs are any darkness you want. I have our moonroof and back windows tinted 5% but some
May find that too dark.

Front complete windshield tint is illegal at any darkness. 70% will go unnoticed largely.

I run 15% on my front doors and 50% on my front windshield, but I run 60-70K miles a year and appreciate the reduced heat and UV rays my hands. though the 70% ceramic does help block and reject UV and IR from the sun.

For your stickers and tags, sticker shield from Amazon is your friend.

It is. 35% film on top of OE tinted glass ~ 25 VLT

I see. Thanks for the clarification. I figured they removed the OE tint. But it makes more sense not to if they don't have to.

Most of the OE tint is actually coloring in the glass, not just a tint film. So it can't be removed.

I had Fabian tint 2 of my SuVs and never fully realized how this worked until now.

It's part of the glass. Just like privacy glass on SUVs. It's a pigment/coloration that is mixed in.

For my SUV, the front side windows came from the factory clear, and the dealer installed tint on those. The tint shop removed that.
The backseat and rear windows had the privacy glass that was colored/tinted from the factory, so there was nothing to be removed.
