I have had great success with Toyotas and own a couple now. I have the last year of the Tacoma before they went to the i-force turbo gas engine. I would read up on those engines, as I don't know. I just wanted to say that Toyota engines today are different than a few years ago.

My Toyotas have been very good overall. Also, they are easy to work on.

We have owned 3, a 2000, a 2008 (that has sold twice now via Texags), and a 2022. I would buy another one in a heartbeat.

If buying used, it'll likely have the 4.0L v6 in it. Great motor.

I have a 2002 Toyota 4Runner with a 4.0L v6. Pushing 250,000 miles on it now. Hard to go wrong with Toyota.

Both kids have 4 runners now. Great cars for them. Owned a few others in the past as well.

Bought one for my son, I love it.

FYIs, it's a 4Runner not a Forerunner

I'm in the minority here. Hated my 2015. Uncomfortable seats, uncomfortable ride, terrible road noise, and awful gas mileage. Kids typically don't care about any of that and it is a cool looking car.

Don't get a 2WD. If you ever try to sell it the first question will be "is it 4WD?". RWD doesn't command the resale value 4Runners are known for

Don't buy the new turbo 4. The older 4.0L V6 is where it's at.

Basically change the oil every 5k and it will last forever. It really doesn't require more than basic maintenance.

We had a 2014 4Runner Limited that we bought used in 2018 and proceeded to run it up to 235K miles with the hardly any problems. Traded it on a 2018 Lexus GX a couple of weeks ago and they gave us $8500 for it. I kind of felt guilty trading it in as it ran and drove perfectly with cold air and everything worked. The reason for trading was strictly the high miles and it was the wife's car and she drives long distances alone often.

I highly recommend the 4.0 4Runners. Ours got a solid 20MPG all the time and it was a great vehicle. Just change the oil every 5K and drive. BTW, Westside Lexus has our old 4Runner on the lot to sell.
