Consumer reports recommends them…..

CR recommends 10 vehicles in this class, with the Bronco Sport rated 9th of 10 recommended. There are 16 total. The top 4 they recommend are the Crosstek (regular and hybrid) and Corolla Cross (also regular and hybrid).
CR is a valuable source of info. I subscribe to it, but for cars, you have to look at their data. I'm not saying completely ignore the recommendations per se, but here, I'd ignore it. If you want a hybrid, get the Toyota. If you don't want a hybrid either the Toyota or Subaru would do fine, although I'd get the Toyota -- Subs are engineered to be 7 year vehicles (reliability drops sharply after that), though their all wheel drive is better than just about anyone's.
I disagree politely. Quattro and Syncro and those Saabs
