Traded in my KLR 650 last weekend. I'm pretty excited so far about this.

Looks like a fun ride. I was trying to figure out why they would name it TranSlap until I realized my error.

How's the e-clutch?

Nice! I wish we had a motorcycle riding forum on here for meetups.

Thanks, it's been a blast so far. Mine is a 2024 model though, basically a leftover new one. The 2026 has the e-clutch. Mine has the regular clutch but I really like it and the gearbox is pretty nice.

How does an e clutch work?

Keeping it in a storage unit, so the wife won't find out?

Single here lol. But keeping it in the storage unit so it doesn't get swiped.

Loved my KLR but it was a tractor this looks nice so glad more manufacturers are making middleweight advs now. I came close to an Africa Twin a few times but was such a big step up.

Yeah, the Africa Twin is a bit much for most people. I didn't want to commit to that kind of power, weight, and especially the price. Transalp is pretty approachable for me.

It's a nice bike! I've been converting my KTM 250 EXC to more street focus since our family farm is selling this summer. It doesn't have the best street manners. I'd like to get back into a real street bike, but dual sport/adventure style. I've ridden the big beemers, but they're just too heavy for offroad. I'll take a look at the transalp for sure. The Africa Twin has already been high on my list. Hard to beat Honda reliability.

Always know it's a moto thread when it's a model # I don't recognize

I used to keep my R6 attached to a pole with a heavy duty lock and covered as well.

I've had a few KLRs, DRZ400E/SM BMW GSPD and R1200GSA and would like a DS bike that size someday.

Good looking bike. Reading the comments, I'm getting the sense I should list my KTM 690 Enduro here, it's been a blast but I've been thinking about a sport tourer.

690s rule. I have a soft spot for big singles(well at least in bikes)

How do you like the difference in motors. The transalp seemed like a sport bike motor in a enduro big change from the KLR how does that feel riding around town or on trails?

Double entendres for days with that comment. Yeah it's probably the most enjoyable bike I've owned, it can do little of everything without missing a beat. It's currently filling a gap between an XT225 that's more fun to toss around in the woods, and a 990 Adventure that's better on longer rides. Logically I should sell it and buy a highway bike to scratch that itch, realistically I keep it for the sheer enjoyment it brings me.

Kind of the best of both worlds. It has that KLR low end torque but it also has a 10,000 rpm redline and about twice as much power as the KLR. I can cruise at 70 mph at only about 4200 rpm in 6th gear. Almost no vibration at all, just a very smooth engine. The KLR felt a lot more gutless on the highway. With the Transalp I can pass a lot more easily.
