I need my Auto Board brethren to tell me if I am FOS or not. My truck is a 2000 F350 XLT super crew long bed 4WD SRW. It has just under 270,000 as a whole, but I replaced the engine with a new 7.3 diesel that has 55K miles on it. The truck is in great shape, dependable, and it has zero mechanical issues. Insurance offered me less than $11,000 for the truck. I know I could sell it easily for $25,000.
I've provided USAA ten comps that average $35,000. The mileage of the comps range from 150K to 210K, so, yes the overall mileage is less. However, my engine has 55K. Yes, I am highballing hoping to meet them in the middle because I think $20k - $25K is fair.
They provided me with 37 comps, six of which I could actually find listings for. Of the six listings where I could find information, one has had two accidents; one was not a crew cab; one had ripped seats on the interior; one was not a crew cab, nor a long bed, had no gooseneck, and had torn seats; one had a heavily worn interior; and one was an F250 (not F350), noted as having rust, and noted as needed a new bed.
I've sent them a complete analysis of their 37 comps. I noted that 2 are from Texas, 4 are from less than 500 miles away, and 17 are over 1000 miles away in northern and Pacific states. Also, 12 are F250s, 31 have no information available, and 29 are in snow or salt air locations with high probability of rust.
My wreck was ~4 weeks ago. I plan to keep holding out, but they aren't budging so far. I know it gets tricky when talking about older trucks with new engines, but am I off base in my expectations of $20K - $25K?
Here are the last two pics of the truck from game cams when I filled feeders a few weeks ago. It should be noted that even they rated the interior as Very Good. The rest was rated as Good.
