I am looking at buying a used F150 and lower mileage 2022s seem to be hitting my desired price point.

I have a few questions for the board though:

1. Were the 10 speed transmission issues resolved by then?
2. Were the cam phaser issues resolved by then
3. Many I'm coming across have the hybrid + 3.5 engine. Any concerns with the hybrid?
4. Anything else to be aware of?

I have 2022 XLT FX4. Bought it in Dec 22. A unicorn as it doesn't have the small rear slider, which I never liked. I put Katzkin leather in mine. At this point, I have 93K

I have had no issues with the drive train at all. I changed the transmission fluid and filter at 85K. I wanted to get ahead of potential problems here.

Only issue is the compass doesn't always work.

Drives straight, quietest vehicle I've ever owned. Despite the mileage, baby it. I don't speed, or floor it at stoplights, etc.

All that to say, my 22 has been good to me. The compass thing pissed me off the first year and I still don't like it. However, there are many other great things about it that more than make up for it.

Hope that helps.

According Ford, the 3.5L EcoBoost engine is particularly prone to Cam Phaser problems, affecting F150 models produced from 2017 to 2020. Other affected models include the 2018-2020. On March 2, 2021 the Ford Company instituted a Customer Satisfaction Program (21N03) to extend warranty coverage until January 1, 2023, for cam phasers that develop undesirable noise in vehicles equipped with a 3.5L gasoline turbo direct injection (GTDI) engine. Only time will tell if the new design of the cam Phasers will solve the issue.

Powerboost is best bought if you get a late 23 lr 24 and up.

The 21-22 did have some issues with the hybrid system. Mostly due to software , though most have been ironed out by now.

Transmission fluid "spill and fill" every 60K or less will help keep it running good for a long time.

I maintain a fleet of 10R80s that get 75K mile intervals for transmission service. Some are knocking on 300K on original transmissions.

Are you dropping the pan and swapping the filter or just using the Mityvac to remove it via the dipstick opening?

Thanks for all the info guys!

I will follow my initial plan and avoid the Powerboost in a 2022!

I have that exact vehicle. No issues at all here. Can phaser issue solved well before 2022.

Expect to replace turbos at some point. Although the electric motor helps reduce the burden on the turbos so maybe they last longer on the hybrid I hope.

My standard eco boost turbos lasted until 164K miles or so.

I have 84K miles on my 2022 with no issues.

If you get a FX4 run it in all wheel drive once a month to keep those fluids in the front differential moving.

I power my house (and a/c) in Houston with that pro power on board. Had to put a transfer switch by my breaker. Works great.

The leasing company will not pay for a filter for one particular fleet, so it's literally spill and fill every 75K. I've actually been putting in loop guard platinum in all of them at 150 K in addition to the fluid change.

I have a 21 F150 XLT for a work truck.
93k on it.

No issues other than the door latch froze & broke, so I got to climb through the cab to get out for a few days but other than that (and a busted headlight, which isn't the truck's fault), been a solid ride.

3.5L Ecoboost. 4x4, crew cab.

Cam phasers got fixed in the 19MY I think.

I just hit 90k in my '21 XLT 5.0 FX4. My only complaint has been the LED DRLs burning out very early, but I think that was largely improved in the '22 MY. I averaged about 19.4mpg on OEM tires, getting 17.9-18.0 now on 285/60r20 Toyo RT Trails.

The CDF drum issue wasn't resolved until August 16th, 2022. Unsure if that's when the trucks started getting the updated trans or when the updated transmissions started production. The latter would imply that some F150s built after that date would have potential CDF drum issues. I'd get a 2023+ just to be safe.
