They run the videos through an app when they are sent, so downloading the video essentially resets it as if it's a new video.Martin Q. Blank said:Yes, please extract the meta data and report back.Quote:

Sounds like it meets all the elements of wire fraud to me:BenTheGoodAg said:

But then to add to it, they sent you the video, which could be incriminating evidence. That's just crazy, right?

So what would I do, report it to Ken Paxton's office?txags92 said:Sounds like it meets all the elements of wire fraud to me:BenTheGoodAg said:

If they just walk up in the lobby and tell you about it, it is one thing, but when they send you fraudulent information over the internet or via text as part of the scheme, it makes it wire fraud.
Contact your local DA…or maybe a citizen fraud dept if Paxton's office has something like that. Or email Ch2 and see if they want to go to the DA about it as part of a story.Ryan the Temp said:So what would I do, report it to Ken Paxton's office?txags92 said:Sounds like it meets all the elements of wire fraud to me:BenTheGoodAg said:

Either straight fraud or an inexcusable level of sloppiness (ie may have intended this for another customer). Either way, horrendous.
I like the thought of getting the local news to go after them, but if the dealerships buy ads from the local news then fat chance of it ever happeningcoolerguy12 said:
It's pretty easy to get local news involved. Years ago I had one of the stations out at my house because my HOA was giving me grief about a swing in the front yard. There happened to be a board meeting that night so the news crew went to it. It was hilarious

Probably the same video they send 5 times a day and if a couple fall for it, cha ching! Then he can enter an additional race somewhere after they sell an additional 100 sets of tires.
This is a similar scam to when they pull the dirtiest cabin air filter or air filter you've ever seen out from their desk drawer claiming it's out of your vehicle. They then can then charge to change a $15 cabin air filter for $100+
100% NOT my tire.

I think I may go look at a truck at a keating dealership (Boerne Dodge). Truck is optioned how I like at a good price, what should I be aware of? Before I go I'll call and make it clear that I am not going to pay for any BS dealer add on's. Will they send me a deal sheet before I come in?

I haven't because I am planning to do a trade. If I end up selling my current one private party I may check them out.

Just as an FYI I did a trade on my most recent purchase at Mark. I sent them pictures of all sides of my truck, tires, dash while running to show no lights. They gave me more for my trade than local dealer, GMTV, Carvana or Carmax offered. They dropped the new truck in my driveway and picked up the trade at the same time.
