If they just walk up in the lobby and tell you about it, it is one thing, but when they send you fraudulent information over the internet or via text as part of the scheme, it makes it wire fraud.

Contact your local DA…or maybe a citizen fraud dept if Paxton's office has something like that. It's pretty easy to get local news involved. Years ago I had one of the stations out at my house because my HOA was giving me grief about a swing in the front yard. There happened to be a board meeting that night so the news crew went to it. It was hilarious
I'm sure the HOA really loved you after that one.
Made them so mad they took the time and effort to update the deed restrictions to specifically not allows swings in trees. At that point I told them mine was grandfathered in and they had no choice but to leave me alone. Left it up for 4 years till we moved.

This is a similar scam to when they pull the dirtiest cabin air filter or air filter you've ever seen out from their desk drawer claiming it's out of your vehicle. They then can then charge to change a $15 cabin air filter for $100+

I think I may go look at a truck at a keating dealership (Boerne Dodge). Truck is optioned how I like at a good price, what should I be aware of? Before I go I'll call and make it clear that I am not going to pay for any BS dealer add on's. Will they send me a deal sheet before I come in?

Looks like all the horror stories are from the service department. All car dealers are crooks, so you might as well go to one with the best prices, plus they happen to have the exact truck that I'm looking for that is pretty hard to find in my area.

They will FLATOUT lie until you show up. Either the truck will not actually exist or they will add on the dealer stuff when you sit down to sign.
I'll put 10:1 odds we get another complaint about Keating from 1939 before we get a rule 1 thread.

Yep, Martin laid out exactly what will happen. That good price is the lure to get you in the door ready to buy a truck. It isn't real, either that truck is long gone or you have many add-ons awaiting.
Have you tried talking to Mark Dodge in Lake Charles? Usually see positive posts about that Dodge dealership

Just as an FYI I did a trade on my most recent purchase at Mark. I sent them pictures of all sides of my truck, tires, dash while running to show no lights. They gave me more for my trade than local dealer, GMTV, Carvana or Carmax offered. They dropped the new truck in my driveway and picked up the trade at the same time.

Yep. Easy to do negotiation on the trade even with an out of town dealer. Plenty of pictures/video + VIN and they'll give you a quote.
