Bought my son his first car 8 years ago and only my name was on the title.... I never got around to transferring to him and of course the title is lost.

What is the easiest/cheapest way to get a title in his name? I know there have to be several Texags peeps that are as sloppy with titles as I am and have already gone through this! :-)

Oh also, another quick Q... are there any free websites where I can find out if my name is the only name on the title?

Very easy to request a replacement title from the DMV. It will be gold instead of blue but otherwise the same.

If you ever had a lien against it then you'll probably have to get proof of release of lien when you apply for title.

Go to your regional title office, walk out with a title. As noted, if it had a lien, you will need the release to do anything with the title. Then give it to your son and pay $10 tax.
