Large SUV

All I hear about are all of the engine problems with almost all large SUVs these days. So what should you buy that has the best reliability and lowest chances of engine failure?

I currently have a '22 Yukon XL AT4 with the 6.2L. With all of the issues with that engine I'm looking to trade for something new. But having a hard time figuring out what to go to. I need three full size rows.

How's the 3.0L diesel in the Suburbans? Looks like GM revamped that engine and they're supposed to start taking orders in March.

Toyota Sequoia? Are either of the V6 engines ok?

I don't really care for the looks of the Expedition, but how are its engine options?

You won't come out ahead losing money on a trade and buying new to get ahead of any repairs you may or may not have. Just put the money you'd lose on a new deal into a savings account and prepare for something that may not even happen.

With questionable reliability among all manufacturers there's a decent chance you even trade out of a reliable 6.2 for problems in another choice.

It's not fancy, but the v8 toyota/nissan older model options will give you the best reliability

You can get a gently used 2024 Nissan Armanda loaded out and with a V8 for a really good price out there.

I struggle to see how the new sequoia would be in the large suv category.

It is really a large midsize now.

For a large suv it's Tahoe, Yukon, suburban, Yukon xl, expedition, expedition max, navigator, jeep grand wagoneer.

Pick your poison on which fatal flaw you can live with the easiest.

Have you had any issues with your almost new vehicle, or is this maybe something you need to write down and feed to the Worry Monster?

If you like the vehicle, it fits your needs, you aren't currently having issues with it that you're tired of dealing with, then buy an extended warranty and drive the damn thing. Your powertrain warranty is 5 years/60k miles.

Basic powertrain extended warranty protects you up to 8 years/120k miles

Just do this and if your 6.2 eats itself, you may get a free long term test drive if the loaner has the 3.0 diesel.

I checked on the extended warranty last year and I don't remember why, but there was something about it that was not good. I think it was incredibly expensive number one, but I also think there was a limit on it would cover. I'll check again.

I posted this on the other 6.2L thread and will do so here as well.

And for the record GM sells roughly 250-300k 6.2L engines every year. You're going to hear of horror stories with that many. Same thing with Ford's ecoboost engines or 6.7 diesel engines and the cp4 pump.

When you sell that many vehicles with that engine you're going to find thousands of stories of failure online....it's just math

With every 6.2 lifter issue there are tens of thousands that have no issue.

My brother sold his 2019 GMC Denali XL to CarMax for $12,000 last year. It had over 260,000 miles and still ran well. The ****** felt like it was slipping a bit which caused the sale. Original 6.2L engine and transmission and still got 21+ mpg on the highway.

My sister's GMC truck has the 6.2L and has close to 170,000 miles. It runs like a top. There is anecdotal evidence good and bad for all vehicles if that's what you are looking for.

Bot or socially awkward poster, inquiring minds want to know...

Looked at Redstone's profile, and his posts on entertainment seem much more human and engaging, and he has been a member since 1999, so these repetitive posts of zero value on the automotive forum are probably not about increasing post count.

I don't understand it. Would love to know what value this poster feels they are adding with his constant repeat of what his whole family drives and how he is unfamiliar with the topic of the OP.

Maybe he was bullied by car guys and is getting back at us and laughing every time we take the bait and ask what the deal is.

The more likely thing is he's just an idiot that enjoys trolling.

6.2L. Dealership picked it up at my house as my lease had expired. The definition of not my problem any more, no idea what caused it.

Plus i deleted the app and everything to do with that piece of **** as soon as it left the house.
