I picked this up off Facebook last weekend. Should be a fun project. I've got 2 or 3 square bodies for parts. I decided to go Vice Grip Garage and drive it home sight unseen based on the seller assurance that it drove great and would have no problem driving it 200 miles. Has a 350, edlebrock carb, manual transmission, probably a 6" lift, 33x12.50's, bucket seats. Brand new carpet (house carpet). 350 has been converted to sepentine belt.

7 hours later (a couple hours spent at Orielly's) I made it home. Rear seal leaked about 7 qts of oil. Oil dripping off of everything now. Needed an alternator and a new plug for the voltage regulator.

Needs:
Interior
Shocks
Taillights
No working instruments
No title
No exhaust (open headers, arrived home smelling like exhaust and ears ringing.
No seat belts

What about the windows? Do they roll down enough to be heard and not let any of the air conditionnnnninggg escape?

Definitely looks like a project, but at least it runs.

That's awesome! I love squarebodies and the stepsides just look right in that era.

Good luck!

Sweet camo headliner

Had some leftover fabric so they recovered the passenger door panel as well.

Note the custom window handle welded to the shaft. Going to need a grinder to take the door panel off.

Interesting dash cover. It's a blanket glued to the dash. The blanket details the major events of the year 1976. World Series winner, major movies, etc.

At least it's period correct!

How does the SM465 shift and drive? I've been leaning towards swapping a tremec TR-4050 into my 75 K5 Blazer in order to get overdrive and a hydraulic clutch but I still have the SM465 in it right now.

It shifts ok. The shifter is loose though, a lot of play in it. Are there bushings or something in there that wear out? You can see where it's hitting the dash shifting to 3rd gear. It seems like it's got pretty high gearing plus it's got the 33's. I think 1st gear is actually needed and will be used. Most SM465s I've driven are in 3/4 tons and 1 tons and low gear is not used in normal driving situations when you have 4.11's.

You beat me to it. I was gonna post that he should paint it blue and put a Wolverines sticker on it.

Love this thread!

I have an old 75 square. Can relate to the ears ringing comment. My exhaust is so loud that it rattles plates inside my house. Going to upgrade the exhaust when I drop in a new 350.

Mine leaks oil like the Exxon Valdez.

This was back when you didn't have to have a crew cab because all your friends could sit in the bed.
