I'm eyeing some F250s and GM AT4HD that are 2024s and seeing some deals.

I presume this is to get them moving off the lot. Any thoughts or anyone seen other deals?

I'm looking on Auto trader and have Laura in St. Louis pulled up as well.

FYI - I'm specifically looking at the 7.3 gasser in the Ford and 6.6 in the GM.

Looks like Ram is running some bigger deals on theirs but not sure if I want the 6.4 gasser there.

Not a lot of 24s left especially gas models from GM. If you see something you like, jump on it. I think I looked a Laura recently and didn't see many gas models left. Discounts never seem that great on GM HD anyway.

I should know this but the 6.6 gasser doesn't have the AFM/DFM lifter issue right?

Correct. A great reason to get one. I'm between it and 3.0 duramax. It's a big jump up to the 2500 if you don't really need it.

I've got a 7,500lb travel trailer that I pull with my F150 Max Tow right now. It gets the job done and is within weight limits but I'd really like to not have to think about it during our 1600 mile trip this summer.

Even better reason to go HD. I don't know much about Ram. Never been a fan.

I have heard multiple reports of the 6.6 having oil consumption issues. David Frieberger even posted about one he was driving going through some serious oil. A good friend that owns an oil and gas related company reported the same thing. Also complained about them being gutless, but have not heard that from anyone else. He is a big Chevy guy and started to just run deleted HD diesels instead.

I have 170k on my 2020 6.6 gasser. No oil consumption issues changing when dash monitor hits 20% with mobile 1 full synthetic and GM filter.

Only issues I have had, broke an exhaust stud @120k and just replaced that stud, manifold and gasket while I had it off. Then coolant tank cracked last month, small leak. Was $50 on rock auto took 5 min to swap.

what kind of deals do you think there will be?

I'm specifically looking at a F250 SRW, 7.3 gasser, Lariat (or KR). Not white.

I know you didn't mention this but I went from a 2019 F-250 to a 2024 Ram 2500 Cummins and I like it way better. Pulls my camper better with better gas mileage. Way more creature comforts.

how do you like the cummins diesel?

I'm trying to avoid the diesel because I won't be hauling long or that often so the price difference and maintenance I don't think will make sense. Plus it'll be a daily driver and I know firing up those big diesels for 5-6 mile trips isn't always the best.

I like it a lot. I can't compare it to the Ram gasser as I've never had one. Compared to the Powerstroke it seems to have more power and better MPG. However I got the diesel because we pull our travel trailer quite often on long trips and we also have a pretty big ski boat.

Yes I pull a dump trailer with a skid steer in it and a 14k equipment trailer 4-500miles a month.

Hemis are a psyop from big spark plug to sell more plugs.

I've talked myself out of the diesel for fuel costs, maintenance, DEF, price of the car, etc.

I only probably tow 10 times a year, maybe less but that still equates to about 2,500 miles - so long hauls when we do tow.

It's the only reason a diesel is enticing, otherwise it's a daily driver for me and gas makes more sense.

But when I see people cruising past me in a diesel doing 75mph pulling 15k lbs I get envious, lol.

Buy a 2025 AT4, valve body issues with the 24 GM Allison transmissions.

Working with a guy (one of 3 different dealerships) on a 7.3 Tremor...

do these things really get 13-14mpg with the 4.30s or should I expect... 11? lol

Did they update the transmissions? That is a big reason I've kept my 20 is I know that 6 speed is stout.

2020-2025 diesels have the 10 speed. 24's are having issues with the valve body.

I don't see why that wouldn't be reasonable. My gas Chevy averages 15.5 empty with only 6 gears.

it has the 10 speed but it's also a 4.3 vs your... 3.73? they put those gears for the stock 35" tires.

the regular v8 f250 has 3.73s in it with smaller tires and gets 15mpg I've seen, which makes sense.

I have a 2020 7.3 gas for the same reasons you've identified. I pull a loaded out bp horse trailer regularly, including 5-10 hour trips sometimes. I've also pulled a loaded out gn living quarters horse trailer as far as Houston to Las Vegas and back. It pulls great, even with the heavier load never had a problem keeping highway speeds with ease. The only caveat being up and down in mountainous areas, it won't keep the speed up like a diesel going up long mountain highway stretches and I wish I had an exhaust brake going down in those instances. But even then it made it fine , and otherwise it pulls outstanding. I get 11-12 mpg driving normally and 8-9 pulling.
