Comments on about 2/3rds of 986 & 996 postings on BaT devolve into people arguing about IMS issues and bore scoring. It's a beating but also why I just stay away from them.
That IMS fiasco just ruins an otherwise great generation of cars.
The 2006 and later 997 has an unserviceable IMS bearing, so it really isn't an issue -- but lots of potential buyers don't know that, and will still bring it up.
The failure rates are minimal. A borescope will answer the borescore question.
Cars & Bids is a good option. Unless you are a great photographer, pay someone -- they will want pics of everything, including engine & transmission numbers, paint readings on all panels, and pics of borescope (just to head off the discussion).
Then be ready to be engaged and answer questions.
Porsche buyers are persnickety, but will pay a premium for a top car (original paint, full records & service history) -- especially if it is one owner and an unusual color (though 997 are almost all red, gray, white, silver or black.)
All that effort may not be worth your time - especially if it is a rough, high miles, undocumented car with damage history.
And Cabs are worth significantly less than coupes.
